However, the group soon discovers that the change in the formula will have bigger affects on the world than they realized, unless they put an end to it.

Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken: Spot has always wanted to become a Dalmatian, though she has accepted the fact that she’ll always be a good for nothing chicken. However, when her fairy god-chicken arrives and informs her that she can make her wish come true, Spot decides to accept the once in a lifetime offer, not realizing what is in store for her.

Episode Quotes

(Rolly knocked Cadpig into the wall of the food trough in an attempt to get close to the kibble)
Cadpig: And what did our horoscope sat this morning, Rolly? That it’s a good day to be rude?!
Rolly: Shh! Hear that magic sound? Sweet, nourishing kibble!
(The kibble comes pouring down from the food silo, Cadpig turns around)
Cadpig: Ah!
(Cadpig gets knocked down; Rolly eats some of the kibble, though spits it out)
Rolly: What is this?!
Cadpig: (emerging from the kibble) Possibly your head after I get done with it!

(The Dalmatians have entered the Kanine Krunchies factory to see why the dog food tastes bad)
Lucky: That’s weird. Why would they have a wood chipper in a dog food plant? That’s why the kibble tastes like wood! They’re using sawdust as filler!
Rolly: And they’re replacing the rich, tasty gravy powder with chalk! Who could be responsible for such atrocities?
Cruella: (heard off-screen) You’re fired!
Spot: Why do we bother to ask?

Cruella: As the new owner of Kanine Krunchies, I guarantee that I will get this company out of the financial dog house, and I’ll start by changing the name to Cruella Crunchies!
Rolly: Oh, we should have known Cruella was behind this kibble conspiracy!
Cruella: Next, we’re going to improve the public image of Cruella Crunchies by sponsoring Grutely Days picnic. Plus, our new theme-song, which I wrote, will soon drone through the heads of every man, woman and child on Earth. (Cruella’s bodyguards put on dog costumes and they hit a button on a stereo; Cruella comes forth and starts singing) The bowl is empty, your dog is whining! It’s for kibble he is pining! The answer to your puppies munchies: spend a lot of money on Cruella Crunchies! (Cruella stops singing) Just wait until you see the music video! And finally, we’re going to cut costs! Memo to myself: replace sawdust in the dog food with dirt; it’s even cheaper!
Board Member: But, Miss De Vil, aren’t you considered about the nutrition?
Cruella: Oh, who cares? They’re dogs! And their owners are too stupid to know the difference.
(Lucky, Rolly, Cadpig and Spot growl at Cruella from their hiding place)

Lucky: Hey, the paper says Kanine Krunchies is going back to its old recipe!
Spot: If only puppies everywhere knew that you were the hero behind this, Rolly.
Rolly: Oh, tut-tut young chicken. If I can bring a smile to their hearts and a belch to their lips, my work is done. (Rolly jumps onto the food silo’s kibble slide) Come to papa! (Rolly takes a bite of kibble) Meaty, yet spicy; reminiscent of the Krunchies of last summer. Now that, that was an excellent vintage!

(The Dalmatians are looking for a squirrel, though Spot heads off on her own)
Spot: I’ve got you now, you, you, squirrel you! (Spot sticks her head inside of a hole) Yoo-hoo! Furry little animal! Where are you?
(Spot is hit by a bright light; a mole wearing a digger hat confronts her)
Manny: Nobody calls Manny the mole a squirrel and gets away with it!
(The mole punches Spot several times, sending her flying; she lands on Lucky)
Spot: (fixing her beak) I’ve just experienced a new level of humiliation.
Rolly: (to Spot) Look! We found the kibble.
Cadpig: Rolly’s unerring nose came through for us again; not to mention my superb hearing!
Spot: Yeah, you’re dogs. You got great hearing and great smelling; I got a bent beak!

Spot: (as a dog) Hey, what’s that smell?
Drumstick: All I smell is wet dog! Pretty, it isn’t.
Spot: No, I mean, Nanny’s muffins! Wow! I can smell them all the way from here! What a nose!

Spot: (as a dog) Oh, the smells, the sounds; this is better than I ever imagined! And, grass never tastes so good! (Spot’s tail starts to wag, shaking her) Uh, hey, hey! What’s going on? I’m having some sort of butt-quake!
Drumstick: That’s your tail; get used to it. Well, have fun being a puppy.
(Drumstick heads back to her egg-ship)
Spot: Wait a minute! That’s it?! Aren’t you going to give me any doggy-instructions?
Drumstick: Yeah; just don’t fall asleep in the driveway.

Spot: (as a dog) Look guys! I’m a dog!
Rolly: Uh-huh, and your point is?
Spot: It’s me! Spot!
Lucky: Yeah right, and I’m Thunderbolt!
Spot: No, really! I just got changed into a dog!
Cadpig: You know, there is something familiar about her.
Spot: I’ll prove it’s me! I’ll tell you something only Spot would know; like, uh, where Rolly keeps his secret stash of fritters!
Lucky: Big deal, everybody knows that!
Rolly: Uh, they do?!
Spot: What about the time Mooch put pink dye in Lucky’s flea bath and he came out looking like bubblegum?
Lucky: Hey, I wasn’t that pink.
Spot: Or when Rolly wanted to impress Dumpling and dressed up like a Vegas lounge singer.
Rolly: Well, one crisis at a time pal! I’m still reeling from this fritter thing!
Spot: And Cadpig blew up the farm’s freezer in order to…
Cadpig: (interrupting) Thank you for sharing; we’re convinced.
Rolly: But does everybody know about my fritters? Tell me, I must know!
Cadpig: Rolly, let it go.

Spot: (as a dog) It’s so cold!
Lucky: Uh, what are you talking about? It’s eighty degrees and stuffy.
Spot: No, it’s my nose, it’s so cold! How can you stand it?
Lucky: (tossing Spot a sock) There! That oughta warm you up.
(The scene changes to show Spot wearing the sock on her nose)
Spot: Hey! This sock smells like feet! My heat’s filled with toe germs! I could get sick! What is I get athlete’s nose! That could lead to nasal rot!
Cadpig: She looks like a pup, but she’s still her old, neurotic self.

Spot: (as a dog) Oh, what’s the use? Doesn’t matter if I’m a dog or a chicken; I always mess everything up.
Lucky: But, it’s always been your dream to be a dog.
Spot: Let’s face it; whatever I am, I’m still me. And right now, I’d give it all up if I could save you guys!
(Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken busts through the wall; Lucky, Rolly and Cadpig stare in disbelief)
Spot: It’s my Fairy God-Chicken!
Drumstick: I got to get these breaks checked. (to Spot) You sure you want to give up being a dog? That grass tasted pretty good, didn’t it?
Spot: Do what you have to do.
Drumstick: Poof!
(Spot turns into various things, though she soon becomes her true self)
Spot: Oh, feathers, beak, and only two feet!
Drumstick: Well, so long kid. I’ll see you next wish!

Episode Goofs

In the episode ‘Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken’, Spot expressed that since she’s a chicken, she has a poor sense of smell. However, this contradicts Spot’s behavior in earlier episodes, such as ‘Twelve Angry Pups’, where she led the other Dalmatians when they were following a scent.

In the episode ‘Dog Food Day Afternoon’, when Rolly is reading the barcode on the back of the Kanine Krunchies bag, the barcode is clearly visible to the viewers and several wide and skinny lines are seen. However, Rolly reads the barcode by saying whether each line is wide or skinny, though the manner in which he says such doesn’t match up with what the viewers see on the bag.

In the episode ‘Dog Food Day Afternoon’, when Horace and Jasper attempted to climb up the Ferris wheel in order to get to Rolly, they managed to start climbing in less than half a second, despite the fact that they were secured with the safety bar in the earlier scene. Also, despite the fact that they’re climbing faster than the seats are moving, Rolly manages to get all the way around the Ferris wheel and back to the ground by the time Horace and Jasper manage to climb up to the very top of the Ferris wheel.

In the episode ‘Dog Food Day Afternoon’, when Rolly knocks Cadpig into the food trough, Two-Tone is seen sitting right next to him. However, in the next scene where the dogs are eating the kibble, Two-Tone is seen on the opposite side of the food trough.

Analysis

Cadpig’s Hearing

In the episode ‘Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken’, Cadpig’s excellent hearing is portrayed once again. When the Dalmatians are tracking down a squirrel in an attempt to find a stolen bag of kibble, Cadpig manages to hear it running off, which points the Dalmatians in the right direction. This also marks the first time where Cadpig has directly mentioned her natural gift, as she gloats about her excellent hearing ability after the Dalmatians retrieve the stolen bag of kibble.

Rolly’s Sense of Smell

In the episode ‘Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken’, Rolly’s advanced sense of smell is portrayed once again. When the Dalmatians are attempting to track down a squirrel in an attempt to find a stolen bag of kibble, Rolly manages to use his sense of smell as a means of finding the squirrel’s tracks, which helped the Dalmatians ultimately find the stolen bag of kibble they were looking for. Cadpig directly mentions Rolly’s natural gift shortly after those events, though Rolly’s excellent sense of smell was already made well aware due to events earlier on in the series.

Rolly’s Secret Stash

In the episode ‘Spot’s Fairy God-Chicken’, Rolly’s secret stash of food is referenced to for its final time in the series. When Spot becomes a dog and attempts to convince her friends that she’s really Spot, she offers to tell them where Rolly keeps his secret stash of corn fritters, which shocks Rolly. Lucky tells her that everybody knows where his secret stash of corn fritters is, which further shocks Rolly, causing him to delve into a short panic over the fact that his secret stash of food wasn’t as safe as he thought it was for nearly the entire time he had it.
