Bad To The Bone: When Rolly decides to take drastic measures in order to prove he isn’t a coward, he finds himself praised by Mooch and his gang, while dismissed as reckless by his normal group of friends. Upset over their behavior, Rolly decides to join Mooch’s gang in order to gain respect from his peers, though his reputation soon proves to exceed him.
Southern Fried Cruella: When Nanny realizes that she has no other choice but to leave the Dearly Farm for awhile, she lets Cruella De Vil watch over it, as Roger and Anita are away on a vacation. However, when the Dalmatians learn that Cruella has ulterior motives for so eagerly helping Nanny out, they decide to ensure that her plan doesn’t come through successfully. | | There are no foreign summaries for this episode: Contribute | | English Recap Available: View Here |

Episode Notes |
| |
In the episode ‘Bad To The Bone’, Mooch bestows Rolly the nickname of Snake Stomper due to his belief that Rolly had defeated Cydne in a fight. | In the episode ‘Bad To The Bone’, the Dalmatian replication that takes place to fill up a scene with many Dalmatians is obvious. During the scene where Cydne is squeezing Rolly to make him confess to not actually beating him up, several copies of Rolly are seen in the midst of all the Dalmatians, including one right behind Lucky, Cadpig and Spot in the scene. However, the copies of Rolly each had a distortion, such as a differently colored ear, though none of these Rolly look-alikes were actually Rolly, since Rolly was being squeezed by Cydne at the time. Such things as this take place many times throughout the series, as since many of the background Dalmatians don’t even have names, facial features and so forth didn’t exist for them either, so it was cheaper to just duplicate already existing animation models, rather than create new ones. | In the episode ‘Southern Fried Cruella’, it is revealed that Cruella has always had other people prepare her meals for her, rather than cooking meals herself. |

Episode Quotes |

(Rolly has just tricked Mooch into believing he attacked Cydne)
Mooch: I didn’t know you had it in you, Rolly.
Rolly: (laughing) Well, what can I say?
Cadpig: That was the most brutal display of unprovoked hostility I have ever seen!
Lucky: Taking a dare was one thing, but that was just reckless!
Rolly: But, but I thought.
Mooch: See, your friends think you’re dense, I think they’re jealous ‘cause you’re cool now. | (Mooch has taken a bone from Rolly)
Rolly: Aw, come on, Mooch! I’ve been saving that bone for weeks! Give it back.
Mooch: If you want it back so bad, fight for it!
Lucky: Knock it off, Mooch!
Spot: Leave Rolly alone, you big bully!
Mooch: Aw, can’t the little puppy defend himself, or is he too scared?
Cadpig: Rolly’s not scared, he’s just allergic to risk.
Lucky: Rolly would rather sleep than fight!
Spot: Yeah, if he weren’t such a big cream-puff, he wouldn’t be our Rolly! | Lucky: Why are you acting like this, Rolly? This isn’t the soft-hearted softy we used to know.
Rolly: Would you stop with that one already? I’m tough now, get it? I am cool.
Cadpig: What you are is a classic, textbook bully! Clearly, you’re behavior is prompted by a need for peer acceptance based on low self-esteem.
(Cadpig gulps as Mooch and his gang surrounds her)
Mooch: I don’t know what you said, but nobody talks that way to one of my gang! | Cydne: So, what’s a tasty little pork chop like you doing in a swamp like this?
Dumpling: You don’t scare me, Cydne! I’m on a mission for Snake Stomper!
Cydne: Snake Stomper?
Dumpling: He ordered me to find some mushrooms for his supper, and if he doesn’t get ‘em, he’ll come out here and beat you up, again.
Cydne: Really? Well, tell me more about this Snake Stomper. | Cydne: Snake Stomper has a little confession to make!
Rolly: Mooch! Two-Tone! Gang! Help me!
Mooch: Sorry, snake food, but you’re on your own.
Cydne: Come on, Snake Stomper, spill it! Spill!
Rolly: (being squeezed) I never beat Cydne in any kind of fight; I never fought him at all! I just wrestled an empty snake skin!
Cydne: Yes, and?
Rolly: (being squeezed harder) You shouldn’t fear me, or respect me; I’m just a big liar!
Cydne: You heard the pup, shows over! (to Rolly) Oh, one thing, lose the earring; it’s just not you. | Rolly: Okay, I know what you’re gonna say. My cool friends dropped me like a hot rock when I needed help, and since I ditched you guys, I’ve lost your friendship too. I guess I got what I deserve, right?
Lucky: Nah, we’ll take you back eventually, Snake-Skin Stomper.
Cadpig: Of course we will, Rolly, but first we’ll wring every last drop of guilt out of you. But hey, what are friends for? | Nanny: (to Roger and Anita) Now go, and have a wonderful time!
Lucky: We’re gonna have a wonderful time! No pets, no parents, it’ll be our vacation too!
Rolly: Yeah! Nanny will be so busy watching everybody else, we’ll just kick back and eat, and eat, and then we’ll eat, and after that, uh, oh, we’ll eat! Yeah!
Cadpig: I sense a theme. | Jasper: H & J messenger service! Telegram for Nanny! (singing) We’ve got a singing telegram, for Nanny, Nanny; from her sister in a jam, in a great big way.
Horace: (singing) At a quilting bee, I picked a fight you see; I won the fight but I broke my knee, need your help, love Franny.
Nanny: Oh, how awful, just awful!
Jasper: Coulda been worse! We also do strip-o-grams!
Nanny: I was talking about my sister! | Cruella: If my plan works, Spot Mart discount stores from coast to coast will soon be featuring my new line of clothing for the simple folk; I call it bumpkin wear!
Jasper: You’ve got a contract with this Mr. Spotly?
Cruella: Not yet, but he’ll sign one once he knows the real me.
Jasper: Um, which real you?
Cruella: The simple, little ol’ country girl who lives on a farm and raises his favorite breed of dogs, Dalmatians!
Horace: Oh, the fake-real you!
Cruella: No, the real-fake me!
Horace: So, uh, are we working for the real-fake you, or the fake-real you?
Cruella: Oh, you nitwits! I’m talking about the real-fake-real me, who… Oh, just fake it! | (Cruella has ordered food to use to pretend she cooked a meal for Mr. Spotly)
Cadpig: Some cook! She’s ordered out for all the food!
Rolly: I hope there’s leftovers!
Lucky: This is no time to think with your stomach! We’ve got to expose her as a phony!
Cadpig: Maybe we should take out her take-out.
Lucky: Huh, maybe we should think with Rolly’s stomach!
Rolly: Oh poppa! I think I like what you’re thinking! | (Cadpig is barking to get Mr. Spotly’s attention)
Mr. Spotly: Well now, ain’t you just the cutest little pup. What do y’all want?
(Cadpig goes to the door and pouts, holding her paws against the door)
Mr. Spotly: You want me to follow you? Well, okie dokie!
(Mr. Spotly and Cadpig go outside; Cruella is seen riding Mayor Ed Pig)
Cruella: Stop, you hysterical sausage!
Mr. Spotly: Wooh! Look at her go! She’s sure enough a bacon buster! |

Episode Title: Bad To The Bone
This is a reference to the 1981 song entitled Bad to the Bone, which was created be George Thorogood and the Destroyers and was released on the album that carried the same name. The song was successful thanks in part to the fact that its music video, which aired on MTV, was one of the few music videos on the station at that time. | Mooch: By now he must be Puppy Helper.
This is a reference to the General Mills food product entitled Hamburger Helper, which is closely associated with its mascot, the Helping Hand. It is distributed as part of General Mills’ Betty Crocker brand, in which a variety of flavors have been created since its original conception. This reference takes place in the episode ‘Bad To The Bone’, when Mooch speaks about Rolly entering Cydne’s lair. |
