Rolly’s Egg-Celent Adventure: Cornelia and Spot must leave on family business, so Rolly takes on the task of sitting on their eggs while they’re gone. However, when Lucky and Cadpig dismiss his abilities, he decides to make his task personal to prove them wrong; though when the eggs hatch early, he finds himself with some unexpected responsibilities.
Wild Chick Chase: Spot wishes to go swimming with her friends, since it’s the first day of summer, as well as the perfect day for a swim. However, when her mother reminds her that she promised to baby-sit a friend’s chick, she realizes she cannot get out of her obligations and she tells her friends the bad news; though they decide to let her take the chick to Hiccup Hole with them, despite Spot’s fear of something going wrong.

Episode Quotes |
| |
(Spot enters the barn, panicked)
Lucky: What’s the matter, Spot?
Cadpig: (comforting Spot) And, deep cleansing breaths; find your center.
Spot: It’s cousin Mercy; she’s playing chicken with the logging trucks again! Mom and I got to go snap her out of it!
Lucky: Course you do, it’s Tuesday. So, what’s the panic?
Spot: We need somebody to take care of mom’s eggs while they’re gone!
Lucky: Oh, gee, uh, look at the time. I really should be in the house, uh, chasing my tail.
Cadpig: Spring already? Only two-hundred more shopping days to Christmas!
Rolly: I’ll do it!
Lucky, Cadpig: (laughing) You?! | Rolly: (to Cornelia’s eggs) Well, guys, I guess it’s just you and me.
Lucky: (laughing) Check it out.
Rolly: Huh?
Lucky: (to Cadpig) He hasn’t been sitting on those eggs for even a minute, and he’s already talking to himself!
Cadpig: Oh, yes, it’s a downward spiral.
Lucky: ‘Fraid Spot shoulda picked one of us. | (The hatched chicks have swarmed all over Rolly)
Rolly: What are they doing?
Cadpig: Well, according to Darwin, genetic codes have deciphered themselves, instincts have taken over, and imprinting has kicked in. In other words, as far as they’re concerned, you’re momma! | (The chicks are copying Rolly’s actions)
Rolly: Hey! Would you look at those little copycats?
Cadpig: They’re learning from you! It’s all part of the wonder of motherhood, in a sick, inter-species kind of way.
Lucky: Well, I don’t know. Maybe you shouldn’t be teaching them dog things.
Rolly: Why not? They worked for me.
Cadpig: And after all, what is a dog? What is a chicken? Can any of us ever really know? | Spot: You did a super job, Rolly.
Rolly: Yeah, I guess I’m more than just an egg warmer.
(The chicks start running around like dogs)
Cornelia: Where’d they learn that?
Cadpig: It just goes to show you, an old dog can teach new chicks.
(Cadpig and Cornelia start to laugh) | Spot: Oh, I can’t go swimming! I have to baby-sit Peeps!
Peeps: Peep!
Lucky: So? What’s the big deal? Bring her along!
Rolly: Just because you have to baby-sit doesn’t mean you can’t go swimming.
Spot: I can’t bring her along! What if something goes wrong? What if there’s trouble?! Think of the consequences!
Cadpig: Spot! Using obligations to deny yourself opportunities for self fulfillment is emotionally destructive. Besides, how much trouble could she be? | (Peeps is about to fall down a waterfall near Hiccup Hole)
Spot: A waterfall!
Lucky: Who put a waterfall there?! | (Peeps has climbed up to the top of an under-construction skyscraper)
Lucky: You know, baby-sitting is a huge responsibility, Spot!
Rolly: Yeah, you really should have thought of the consequences before swimming with us.
Spot: But, you said!
Cadpig: I think it’s time Spot started listening to Spot. | (Peep’s Mother has just receives Peeps back)
Peeps’ Mother: There’s my little angel! Oh, I hope she wasn’t too much trouble.
(Peeps kisses Spot on the beak)
Spot: (blushing) Oh, thank you Peeps!
Peeps’ Mother: (to Peeps) But then again, how much trouble could you be?
Peeps: Peep! Peep! | Lucky: Ready to call it quits, Rolly?
Rolly: No, never!
Cadpig: I’m actually very impressed. Being an egg mentor is quite a serious responsibility; try to stay positive when you fail miserably, won't you? |

Episode Goofs |
| |
In the episode ‘Rolly’s Egg-Celent Adventure’, before Rolly told the chicks to dig up a bone, he dug up a bone himself. However, in the next few scenes, the bone that Rolly had found was gone, despite the fact that the Dalmatians were still standing in the same area that Rolly had obtained the bone from. | In the episode ‘Rolly’s Egg-Celent Adventure’, when the scene changes back to the Dearly Farm for the final time in the episode, Lucky’s ears are seen as white, despite the fact that they are black throughout the rest of the series. | The episode ‘Wild Chick Chase’ has an obvious lack of continuity with the rest of the episodes of the series. Through the course of the episode, a large waterfall is seen connected to Hiccup Hole, as well as a large highway just to the north of it. Also, an extremely large city is seen within walking distance from Hiccup Hole, though this shouldn’t be possible since no large cities existed in such a close proximity to the Dearly Farm. However, these goofs were intentional goofs, as the writers had one of the characters openly express that some of the things mentioned shouldn’t have been there. |

Cultural References |
| |
Rolly: Get back! Get back! Get back to where you once belonged!
This is a reference to the 1969 Beatles song entitled Get Back. The song was later included in the last album that the Beatles released before they split up, though the song was at the top of the charts in six different countries, including the United States of America. The reference was made in the episode ‘Rolly’s Egg-Celent Adventure’, when Rolly tries to keep the eggs from hatching. | Cadpig: Well, according to Darwin.
This is a reference to the 19th century naturalist, Charles Darwin, who went on a five year voyage to study and document the different flora and fauna that he came across. He later went on to publish a book in 1859, The Origin of Species, which brought forth the theory of evolution. The reference is made in the episode ‘Rolly’s Egg-Celent Adventure’, when Cadpig attempts to explain to Rolly why the chicks are imitating him. | Visual: The Dalmatians jumping across logs on a river to rescue Peeps
This is a reference to the 1981 arcade game entitled Frogger. In the game, players had to control a frog in order to get it across a road and then a river, in which the river contained moving logs that were the player’s only option of getting across the river. The reference takes place in the episode ‘Wild Chick Chase’, when Spot and her friends are trying to rescue Peeps from the raging river. |
