Tic Track Toe: The Dalmatians decide to go to Cruella De Vil’s racetrack in order to see one of their heroes, Go-Go, a Greyhound who is one of the fastest dogs in the world. However, when a mechanical error occurs that causes Go-Go to develop a fear of racetrack bunnies, the Dalmatians must work together to help their hero rebound from the tragedy and get back to the track.

Lucky All Star: Lucky has always been Roger’s favorite Dalmatian and he has received many benefits for being such. Due to such, when he discovers there’s going to be a bone digging contest in Grutely, he assumes that he’ll get selected by Roger based solely on that face. However, when Tripod starts to practice in an attempt to get selected, Lucky begins to feel that his role as Roger’s favorite Dalmatian may be jeopardized.

Episode Notes

In the episode ‘Lucky All Star’, it is revealed that Lucky is Roger’s favorite Dalmatian and that he thinks more favorably of him than the other Dalmatians. This is evident by the fact that he scolds Cadpig much more severely than he scolds Lucky when they crashed into his computer, despite the fact that they were equally at fault; though Roger also proves such through his dialogue.

Episode Quotes

Television Announcer: He overcame incredible obstacles to become the fastest, most beloved racing dog of all time. Go-Go, the fastest dog in the world, next, on Dogography.
Rolly: I dig Go-Go!
Cadpig: I love Go-Go!
Lucky: I worship Go-Go!

(The Dalmatians are commenting on Go-Go, as they’re about to watch his race)
Cadpig: He’s brave!
Rolly: He’s fearless!
Lucky: He can do anything!
Spot: He’s just a dog!
Lucky: He’s not just a dog. Go-Go’s my hero!

Lucky: What are we supposed to do? What are we supposed to say to our loser hero?
Cadpig: We’ll think of something.
(The Dalmatians approach Go-Go)
Lucky: Hey Go-Go, uh, how’s it go-going?
Go-Go: Not so good. My career, it’s over.
Cadpig: Remember, Go-Go. If you keep your face in the sunshine, uh, be sure to wear sunglasses!

(Cadpig is dressed up in a bunny costume to try to help Go-Go overcome his fear)
Cadpig: (to Go-Go) Look at me! I’m just a cute, little bunny. You’re afraid of me, aren’t you? Go-Go is afraid! Goo-Goo is afraid! (Go-Go starts to growl and backs up; Cadpig follows him) Go-Go is… (Cadpig gets attacked by Go-Go behind the screen; Lucky and Rolly watch on in shock, though they turn their heads. Cadpig emerges and is visibly torn up) He’s cured… (Cadpig passes out)

(Lucky and Cadpig have just made a mess of Roger’s office)
Roger: Not so fast, Cadpig! You know the rule: stay away from my computer! That jingle was my first paying job in three weeks! (to Lucky) And you! What do you have to say for yourself? (Lucky begins to pout) No, no, don’t even try it partner; I know all your tricks. Hey, Lucky, you know I can’t stay mad at you; you’re my favorite!
Cadpig: (to herself) Gee, it’s enough to make you wanna toss your kibble.

(The Dalmatians have just seen the commercial for the bone-digging contest)
Cadpig: Oh, I hope Roger picks me! That trophy matches my inner-glow!
Spot: Who cares about the trophy? I just want to bring honor to Dearly Farm.
Rolly: Roger isn’t picking a chicken, Spot. He’s going to choose a dog with a nose for bones, like me!
Lucky: Dream on, guys. Roger has only one favorite, and we know who that is.
Cadpig: Oh, forgive me, chosen one. And if it weren’t for my total commitment to world peace, I’d kick your sorry little…
Spot: (interrupting) Hey, where you going, Tripod?
Tripod: Gotta start practicing for the contest.

Roger: Hmm, twenty-five percent off each flea collar. At $3.99 a piece, that’s about 1/4th off four dollars. I’ll save a dollar on each collar; for one-hundred and one puppies, I’d save one-hundred and one dollars.

Lucky: Oh well, guess you won’t be taking my place with Roger after all.
Tripod: What are you talking about? I just wanted chance that contest; now we’ll never know if I coulda won.
Lucky: Of course you woulda won; you win everything. Nobody works harder than you.
Tripod: A lot of good that does me now.
Lucky: It’s not my place with Roger you were after. It was winning the contest. Oh, man, I’m so selfish.

(Roger’s car slung mud on Lucky and Tripod while they were pushing it)
Lucky: (to Tripod) That’s a good look for you.
Tripod: Careful Lucky, you don’t want to break a nail.
(The two of them resume pushing on Roger’s car to help it out of the mud)

(Tripod has just won the bone-digging contest)
Roger: He won! We won! We all won!
(Roger carried Lucky over towards Tripod and kneels down)
Lucky: (to Tripod) Sorry I was such a jerk.
Tripod: (to Lucky) I couldn’t have done it without you helping us out of the mud.
Roger: (to the crowd) Collars for everybody!

Episode Goofs

In the episode ‘Tic Track Toe’, when the Dalmatians are seen for the first time, Rolly’s collar isn’t colored in, despite the fact that it should have been colored blue.

In the episode ‘Lucky All Star’, when Lucky is in the barn while expressing discontent that Roger has selected Tripod instead of him, Rolly’s ears are black, despite the fact that they’re normally white throughout the series.

In the episode ‘Lucky All Star’, when Roger is attempting to get Lucky off of his windshield wipers, he lets go of the steering wheel, which is uncharacteristic of Roger since nobody else was in the car to grab a hold of the wheel. Also, the car continues to drive, despite the fact that Roger wouldn’t have been able to keep his foot on the gad pedal due to the position in which he was sitting.

In the episode ‘Lucky All Star’, Roger mentions that he has to buy flea collars for one-hundred and one puppies. This is a mistake on the writer’s part, as Roger and Anita only have ninety-nine Dalmatian puppies, as Pongo and Perdita make up the rest of the 101 Dalmatians, despite the fact that they’re fully grown.

Cultural References

Host: Up next on Dogography!

This is a reference to the real series entitled Biography, which featured biographies on famous persons ranging from celebrities to politicians. Throughout its run, enough episodes were created to entice the A&E Network to create a Biography channel, which primarily shows footage from the said series. The reference was made in the episode ‘Tic Track Toe’, in which the Dalmatians are watching the show in the beginning of the episode.

Analysis

Lucky Lucky

The episode ‘Lucky All Star’ shows that Lucky is more lucky than he may realize. Despite the fact that he was named the way he was because of the spots on his back, as well as the fact that he barely survived being born, Lucky was capable of easily finding a horseshoe in the ground when he was trying to prove to Roger that he was capable of digging as well as Tripod was. Horseshoes are typically considered to be a token of good luck in many cultures, which makes Lucky’s discovery more noteworthy.
