Bill asks Chloe to check out Audrey's activity in the last 18 months particularly anything involving Christopher Henderson and Walt Cummings. Chloe asks Bill if he thinks she has something to do with their conspiracy and he replies he doesn't know what to think. He makes his way towards Audrey and informs her he's going to have to take her into custody as two guards grab Audrey by the arms. Audrey is shocked and asks why. Bill says Collette Stenger gathered information from DoD and named Audrey as her source. He tells her they've already uncovered one mole today and has no other choice. "Does Jack know that I'm being detained?" questions Audrey. "Yes, he sanctioned it," Bill replies.
Collette Stenger maintains it was Audrey who fed her information and they met face to face. Jack tells her she should be able to recognise her when she sees her. A CTU agent tells Jack she identified Audrey's photo on the way. Jack pushes Collette against the wall and tells her if she's lying to him then he's going to make this the worst day of her life.
Audrey is taken to a holding room and some interrogation equipment is wheeled in.
Bill argues that Burke's interrogation methods should only be used as a last resort but Karen disagrees and thinks this situation warrants a more aggressive approach. Bill says they should do the same with Collette Stenger but Karen admits she's protected by an immunity agreement. Bill still can't believe Audrey is involved, he's known her for years and trusts her implicitly. Miles reminds Bill that tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands of American lives are at risk with an imminent attack and they just got information that Audrey knows about it. They don't have the luxury of time. Jack arrives and asks why Burke is here. Karen tells him he's about to interrogate Audrey but Jack isn't happy. He brought this to Karen therefore he should be the one to interrogate Audrey. Karen raises the issue of his emotional involvement with Audrey but Jack responds that has nothing to do with this. Karen then brings up Nina Myers and Jack tells her she fooled a lot of people and was deep cover for many years before he even met her. Karen thinks it could be the same with Audrey but Jack reminds her who she's dealing with here, the daughter of the Secretary of Defense who will eat her alive if she's wrong about this. Bill says Jack deserves to talk with Audrey and Karen reluctantly agrees but at the first sign he's less than objective he's out.
A police car pulls up to two men fighting and the police officers step out to break up the fight. Bierko's men appear and kill the officers before taking their uniforms and weapons. Now that they have a police escort, the curfew won't be a problem.
Chloe tells Jack she found a connection between Audrey and Walt Cummings and that he's not going to like it. Not only did they stay in the same hotel, they stayed in the same room.
A new girl arrives from downstairs and introduces herself to Chloe as Shari Rothenberg. She's here to replace Edgar. Shari spots Miles who sees her and doesn't look too happy.
Jack enters Audrey's holding room and tells her sternly to sit down. Audrey denies knowing Collette Stenger and tells Jack he's wasting time with this. Jack had to get permission from CTU to do this and tells Audrey she does not want to see Burke walk through that door. Jack asks Audrey if she knows Christopher Henderson and Walt Cummings. She says she didn't know Henderson before today and knows Cummings from DoD briefings. Jack asks if that's it and if Audrey is sure to which she responds with yes. Jack throws a folder onto the table and tells Audrey to open it. It's all the evidence Chloe had gathered earlier. Audrey backtracks and admits they were at the same hotel and might've had a few drinks together. Jack, with his voice raised, tells her they didn't just share drinks, they had the same room and she slept with him. Audrey admits it and tells Jack she was still recovering from losing him but broke it off after sleeping with him once. "Why did you break it off?" Jack barks. "Because he wasn't you," responds Audrey. Jack reels off a bunch of questions to which Audrey responds with no. Jack pushes the table aside, grabs Audrey by the throat and pushes her against the wall. "Tell me the truth!", Jack shouts. He wants Audrey to tell him everything she knows otherwise this will become very unpleasant. Audrey maintains she's telling the truth. Jack shouts at the camera that this is over. Karen tells Bill it looks like Audrey broke him and not the other way around. She's still not convinced and tells Bill to send Burke in.
Chloe tells Shari to upload some new information to the subnet. Miles appears and tells Shari she isn't qualified for level 3 work and what she's doing is level 3 work. Shari tells him she's provisionally qualified and he can check it out if he wants. He tells her the first mistake she makes he will yank her provisional and walks off. Chloe asks what that was all about and Shari explains they used to work at the San Francisco office and that it was a sexual harassment thing.
Jack escorts Audrey out and Bill tells him Karen wants to take it further. They meet Burke who is accompanied by two guards. Burke tells Jack he has orders but Jack doesn't care. He tells Burke to get out of his way only for a guard to lunge at him. Jack hits the guard in the throat and forces the other one to the floor. Burke shocks Jack with a stun gun and he's immediately disabled. Guards take Audrey away while Jack is handcuffed.
Christopher Henderson receives a call from a man called Brennan. Henderson asks if Wayne Palmer is dead yet. Brennan tells him they rolled his car but he managed to escape. They'll make it right, though.
Aaron tries to call Wayne but all he's getting is the voicemail service. He asks another agent if Wayne has arrived yet but he hasn't. He last checked in 30 minutes ago and should be here by now. Aaron tells the other agent he's going out to take a look in case Wayne encountered car trouble or something.
Karen and Jack argue over interrogating Audrey. Jack tells Karen that Henderson has a contingency plan and this is it, to make Jack lose focus. The real person they should be interrogating is Collette Stenger but she's untouchable due to her immunity deal. Jack comes up with a suggestion - let him and Chloe find proof that Stenger is lying to them which will negate her deal.
Miles turns up at Shari's desk and shows her a mistake she made. He asks who gave her authorisation to which Chloe says she did. Miles doesn't believe her and thinks she knows about the alleged sexual harassment. Chloe reminds Miles about the nerve gas canisters and that they're trying to find them. If he interrupts their work again, she'll file a complaint to Division then he'll see what protocols all about.
Jack tells Chloe to look for anything to connect Collette Stenger and Christopher Henderson in order to help Audrey.
Bierko arrives at a gas company. The guard is shot and the nerve gas canisters are transported inside. Bierko asks two men who is in charge. One of them says he is and Bierko shoots the other. The man is told to do as Bierko says and no more of his friends will die. The canisters are moved to the main distribution tank whilst Bierko is taken to the control room. Once there, Bierko orders the man to lower the pressure in the pipes by half. He needs to do this so that the nerve gas doesn't become inert when it reacts with the gas in the pipes.
Aaron, with gun in hand, searches outside. A man with a rifle sneaks up behind him and tells him to drop the gun and get on the floor. Aaron recognises the voice, it's Wayne Palmer. Wayne tells him he saw some other people and that they must go.
Burke interrogates Audrey who is on a drip. She's crying and maintains she doesn't know anyone else involved in the conspiracy.
Chloe has found a link between Henderson and Stenger. He made 8 phone calls to her that she didn't say anything about. That's enough for Jack and he runs to Stenger's cell. He knocks out the U.S. Marshal, grabs his gun and points it at Stenger. She buckles and tells Jack the target is a natural gas distribution centre but doesn't know which one.
Jack orders Burke to stop his interrogation, Audrey is innocent and he can check with Bill. Audrey tells Jack she knew he would come and that's what got her through her ordeal. They kiss and Jack says he's sorry. Bill calls and says he has something.
Chloe has a number of gas distribution centres on satellite. Jack leaves to get a team together and take off so they can hit Bierko once the target has been found. Shari tells Bill she used to study chemistry and that the pressure would have to be lowered if nerve gas was to have an effect. Chloe narrows the search down to one company and Bill congratulates Shari and leaves to inform Jack. Shari asks Chloe if she saw Bill brush his hand across her. She says that was wrong, he shouldn't have done that.
Aaron and Wayne make their way to Aaron's car. Aaron stops for a moment and Wayne asks what's wrong. A bazooka is fired and men appear from the darkness shooting at them. Wayne has been knocked to the ground so Aaron grabs him and puts him in his car before driving off.
In the air, Jack makes preparations for the team. The noise from the plant should cover their descent.
Mikhail, one of Bierko's henchmen, has set up the nerve gas canisters and informs Bierko everything is ready.
Jack and his team arrive at the gas plant and make their way onto the roof. They enter the building and head for the control room. Two men are taken out on the way. Inside the control room, one of Bierko's men spots one of Jack's team and a gunfight breaks out. Bierko sees that the pressure has dropped to 50% and he activates the nerve gas canisters before making his escape. Jack sees the gas has been released and the only way to stop it now is to incinerate it by using an explosive charge on the pipeline. Jack makes his way to the pipe as instructed by Sam, the worker in the control room and sets his charge. Bill asks Curtis if he's clear and he says he's just about but there is no sign of Jack behind him. Bill asks Jack if he's clear but there's no response. The charge explodes and fire bursts out of the pipe while Jack is still running to safety. Explosions go off behind him but he manages to come out unscathed. He spots Bierko in the distance and gives chase. Bierko is about to get into the police car he had stolen earlier when Jack shouts his name. An explosion knocks Bierko against the car and he falls to the floor. Jack picks Bierko up off the ground and a struggle ensues between the two men. An explosion blinds Bierko for a second and Jack headbutts him then pulls him inside the police car before another massive explosion occurs that engulfs the car.
