Recap

CTU have set up a conference with the Attorney General that is only minutes away. Karen asks Chloe to play the recording - there's nothing on there. Jack tells Chloe to double check everything but there is nothing on the memory chip - it's been erased. Jack asks Chloe who had access to the room while she was working - Miles did. Jack storms out and heads towards Miles. Karen tries to get a security guard to stop him only for Jack to punch him in the chest before crumpling on the floor. Jack grabs Miles by the throat and pushes him against the wall. Karen manages to persuade Jack to let go. It looks like Miles is packing up to go elsewhere - he's been transferred. "Transferred to where?" Karen asks. Jack knows exactly where: "The White House." Karen is disgusted with Miles and slaps him in the face. President Logan calls inquiring about the conference with the Attorney General and informs Karen that he's suspending Jack's arrest order. Jack knows his release will mean he's alone and unprotected - the perfect target. Word comes in that Bierko has escaped and the lone agent who survived the attack is sure he heard Bierko's men mention something about a nerve canister. CTU put Bierko's capture at the top of the priority list...

Episode Quotes
(to the sound of hissing)
Jack: What's wrong?
Chloe: I don't know.
Karen Hayes: What do you mean you don't know? Where's the recording?

Jack: You son of a bitch!
Miles Papazian: Let go of me, Bauer!
Jack: You know how many people lost their lives so I could bring that evidence in?!
Miles Papazian: I don't know what you're talking about!
Jack: We know it's you!

Miles Papazian: I've been transferred. I was told to report immediately. The orders should be coming through any minute.
Karen Hayes: Transferred to where?
Jack: The White House.

Karen Hayes: How could you do this, Miles? This is not over. There will be an investigation.
Miles Papazian: Do what you have to do, Karen. But, I work for the President now.

Jack: Karen, Audrey Raines heard the recording when I played it for Secretary Heller, I know that she will sign an affidavit to claim...
Karen Hayes: Jack! Not now!

Jack: He's letting me go because he knows he's won.
Karen Hayes: What does he gain by releasing you?
Jack: I'll be on my own... alone, unprotected - a perfect target.

Bierko's Henchman: We can't do much damage with one canister of nerve gas.
Vladimir Bierko: You're so wrong.

President Logan: Listen to me, Aaron. You think you know what's going on. I'm here to tell you you don't.

President Logan: Are my terms acceptable?
Agent Aaron Pierce: There is nothing that you have said or done that is acceptable to me in the least. You're a traitor to this country and a disgrace to your office. And it's my duty to see that you're brought to justice for what you've done. Is there anything else... Charles?

President Logan: (upon learning of Bierko's escape) Damn it! I thought we rolled CTU into Homeland Security just to avoid screw-ups like this?!

Karen Hayes: We're running out of options here. This is about saving lives not indulging a grudge!
Jack: You think this is about a grudge? He killed an ex-President of the United States, he tried to kill the Secretary of Defense - you want this man to walk with full immunity?!
Bill: It's not about what anyone wants, it's about doing what has to be done. Nobody knows that better than you. Bierko's gonna kill innocent people, Henderson might be our only chance to stop him. Jack, what would David Palmer want you to do if he were here? The best way to honour his memory is to make the choice to save others.

Christopher Henderson: Why should I help you?
Jack: You call yourself a patriot - prove it. These terrorists are gonna attack the country that you love because you betrayed them. How about you help me put out the fire that you started?

Jack: You want immunity or not?
Christopher Henderson: Immunity is worthless.

Christopher Henderson: Come on, Jack, you can't really believe that Charles Logan masterminded all of this by himself.
Jack: Give me the names.
Christopher Henderson: You can't touch them but they can touch you.

Jack: What makes you think that I'm not gonna kill you the second this is over?
Christopher Henderson: Because you're gonna give me your word and I know what your word is worth to you so it's all I need.

Christopher Henderson: (to Jack) Now, Bierko is gonna hit hard so you'd better think fast.

Christopher Henderson: Jack, don't be stupid. You know you can't get anything outta this guy. And his computer makes this place look like an internet cafe!

Jack: If he tries anything, I swear to you, I will kill him.
Karen Hayes: Then don't let it get to that point.

Martha: You're going to shoot me? I'm the First Lady. You'd shoot the First Lady?

Jack: No games, Christopher. I don't need another reason to put a bullet in your brain.

Martha: That Agent, um... Adams, my husband ordered him to kill you, didn't he?
Agent Aaron Pierce: Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry to tell you the President was involved with much worse things than that.
Martha: I know. I was gonna let him get away with it. All of it. I was gonna keep quiet. We have to do something.

Jack: The deal was Bierko's head on a plate!
Christopher Henderson: So, what do you want me to do now? Kill him for ya?!
