Liz Lemon is living every writer's dream -- the head writer for a live variety show that stars her best friend, Jenna Maroney. But her world is thrown off track when Jack Donaghy is hired as the new network executive. He begins to interfere with the show and convinces Liz to hire Tracy Jordan, a wild movie star. Jack later has Liz spend time with Tracy before she rejects him and she ends up swept up in his entourage.

The gang returns from summer hiatus. Liz is excited to see Jack, but her attitude quickly changes when he tells her that she's not over Floyd. Jack also unveils his SeinfeldVision plan to Liz, which involves using footage from Seinfeld and putting him into current NBC shows. However, Jerry Seinfeld is not too thrilled about his idea. Meanwhile, during the summer, Jenna gained weight while doing the musical "Mystic Pizza: The Musical" and after Tracy is kicked out, Kenneth becomes his work wife.

When Jack realizes that Don Geiss may be retiring, he goes head to head with Devin, who is now engaged to Don's daughter. However, when Kenneth accidentally reveals that Jack had a heart attack, Devin is confident that he can upstage him. Meanwhile, Jack and Jenna confront Liz about getting it together and Kenneth plots to get Tracy and his wife back together.

Jack hires a private investigator to prevent GE from discovering anything that can be used against him, but when Jack learns he has to give up his secret cookie jar collection, he is reluctant to do so. When Angie, Tracy's wife, decides to always be by his side to make sure he behaves, Liz thinks it's a great idea, but after being forced to cover for Tracy, she realizes it's not good to be on Angie's bad side. Jenna is reaping the career rewards of her recent weight gain, but she soon realizes she's returning to her previous, thinner size.

Kenneth, his page jacket ruined by Jenna, has to compete to keep his job.
