Episode Notes

Jane Horrocks also plays Lola in this special.

Eddie's often-mentioned-but-never-seen son Serge finally makes an appearance in this episode.

This episode appears on the Absolutely Fabulous Special DVD and is listed on the box as "In New York" but the episode itself is known as Gay.

Goldberg asked Saunders to be a part of the series but at this point they hadn't decided to do season 5 yet so they made her a part of this special instead.

Episode Quotes

Patsy: ...I say what goes in the store!
Eddy: And what would that be darling?
Patsy: All very good.
Eddy: Very good darling.
Patsy: No, a few items that very few can afford. I've done the customers shopping for them.
Fleur: Who is the customer?
Patsy: Rich bitches who's faces have been pull so tight they can't see what they're buying.

Episode Goofs

Several times in this episode, Christopher Ryan refers to Mo Gaffney as "Mo" instead of her character's name, "Bo."

Most of the New York shots were done in London. Don't believe it? Take a look at the streets. Anything filmed in london has a cobble brick road, NYC has mostly paved streets.

At the end of this special we find out Edina has made Serge's boyfriend Martin her son with a ceremony conducted by Goldie. Edina tells Patsy and Saffron he is coming to live with her. He doesn't appear and isn't mentioned in series 5.
