Episode Recap

Sydney is trapped inside the Mangaley Asylum in Bucharest, Romania. She has just found Agent Fisher slumped over in a chair - his throat slashed. Suddenly she is shot with a tranquilizer. She awakens to find herself in an electroshock tub. Dr. Kreshnik, the K-Directorate agent, is interrogating Sydney. He wants to know if she got any information from Martin Shepard, the assassin. Sydney has not gotten any info yet but promises that she can since she has formed a basis of trust with Shepard. She says that Kreshink must allow her to live. Kreshnik obliges, but Sydney only has until nightfall before she will be put to death.

Sydney takes advantage of a small opportunity and attacks Kreshnik and the orderlies. She takes Shepard and flees to a CIA safe house. Shepard has vision problems because of FTL’s tampering with his memory. When he looks at Sydney, he can only see in black and white. He recognizes her but he cannot remember how he knows her.

As Shepard’s memory starts to return, he sees Sydney sitting at a table with a “Happy Birthday Sydney” banner behind her. Martin calls Sydney by name and she demands to know how he knows her. He tells her about the banner and then he realizes that it was a picture…in Danny’s apartment. Shepard reveals that he was ordered to kill Danny, after being programmed by SD-6 Agent McCullough. Sydney tries as hard as possible to forgive Shepard since it was a killing that he isn’t really responsible for.

Vaughn contacts Jack and wants to meet him at a Chinese restaurant. Jack arrives and criticizes Vaughn for this break in protocol. He also confronts him for pulling his CIA file. Vaughn explains that Sydney wanted to see it. She thinks Jack might have worked for the KGB.

Back at SD-6, Sloane tells Marshall that the leak he found in the network was planted by SD-6 as part of a security procedure. Sloane calls a meeting with Alain Christophe, a member of the Alliance, that SD-6 has set-up a dummy server. They will use it to catch the worm that is hacking through the mainframe. Christophe says there must be one, or two, moles inside SD-6. He wants them caught…now.

Will is starting to develop cold feet. He thinks that if he defies Sydney’s wishes, and continues investigating Danny’s murder, that she will not speak to him. He pleads with his editor to let him drop the story. However, Will finds out that if he drops the story it will be reassigned to someone else. Will has gotten in too deep; there is no stopping the story now.

Sydney, Will, Francie and Charlie have Thanksgiving dinner at Sydney’s apartment. Charlie proposes to Francie. Jack arrives and tells Sydney that the FBI investigated him more than 20 years ago. They thought he was KGB. This investigation lead to the car chase that killed her mother, Laura.

At SD-6, Sloane uses Parkashoff’s DNA to decode the FTL communiqué. It reveals that another Rambaldi artifact will be analyzed at Oxford’s Department of Engineering. Sloane assigns Sydney to retrieve the artifact. However, Vaughn warns her that Anna Espinosa was seen leaving Bucharest, before Sydney. Anna is probably on the job too…
