Episode Quotes

Sydney: Tell me you agree with me, that we have no choice in this.
Jack: Of course we have a choice. And it's a moment I never wanted you to face. To kill someone. I'm not talking about self-defense. I'm talking about premeditated murder. To be there when the door closes on him for the last time. Knowing you are responsible. That is something you never came close to considering before getting to know your mother.

Sydney: Approaching the building.
Sark: Good luck, Sydney.
Sydney: I don't need you to wish me luck, you son of a bitch.
Sark: That's a wonderful attitude.

Vaughn: I'm trying to live a normal life, which was always hard given what I do. But it's gotten harder since I met your daughter. It's not that knowing her hasn't made my life better. It has. But it's also made it that much worse. I think I've said enough.
Irina: The problem, Mr. Vaughn, is that to the one person who matters, you haven't said anything.
Vaughn: Listen, this may not mean anything to you. This may not be something you can understand or appreciate, but we have rules. Very clear and important rules that govern the relationship between a handler and his asset.
Irina: And between a man and a woman?

Irina: When Estonia gained independence, the local authorities graciously accepted our offer to take over the facility.

The Republic of Estonia is a country in Northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea to the west and the Gulf of Finland to the north. Estonia declared its independence as a republic on February 24, 1918 after the collapse of Imperial Russia. Estonia was then incorporated by force into the Soviet Union in June 1940, and regained its freedom on August 20, 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Francie: Well, back when I was listening to Duran Duran every single day, my uncle was one of the marines Reagan sent into Grenada. The invasion was in 1983.

Duran Duran is a pop music group formed originally by Nick Rhodes (keyboards) and John Taylor (bass guitar) in 1980s. Roger Taylor (drums), Andy Taylor (guitar), and Simon Le Bon (lead vocals) joined them later. The band continued producing albums, but their higher peak was in the 1980s. His most recognazable hits include "Is There Something I Should Know," "Union Of The Snake," "New Moon On Monday," "The Reflex" and "Wild Boys."

The invasion of Grenada in late 1983 was the first "war" between the U.S. and Cuba and America's first military victory since well before the Vietnam War. It can be seen as part of a greater regional conflict. President Reagan and his administration considered that the Prime Minister Maurice Bishop - and his Marxist government - was giving Cuba too much influence in Grenada.
