  Episode Quotes
Sark: You know, it's a pity we're traveling separately. We could've used the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Sydney: Yeah, I'm broken up about that too.

Sark: (about Irina) I learned a lot from her. In some ways, I think of her as a mother myself.
Sydney: Listen to me. You and I have nothing in common. We're not friends, we're not gonna become friends, and you certainly won't bait me with stories about a woman I never knew.

Ariana Kane: Men always call women crazy when they're caught with their pants down.

Sydney: (to Will) But after Danny and what happened to you, I've accepted the fact that it's as a gesture of love to deceive the people I care about.

Sydney: I can't just give SD-6 a fake Marshall.

Ariana Kane: More secrets have been revealed through pillow talk than through torture. If there's a prostitute or a stewardess out there you think may have heard you talking in your sleep, I need to know about it.
Jack: There is one way for you to verify if my nocturnal activities are a security risk, Ms. Kane, but somehow I think we'd both prefer the torture.

Ariana Kane: I don't trust anyone who doesn't have the sense to know when he's being insulted.

Marshall: You know what I always say - if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it!

  Cultural References
Sloane: This interrogation technique was developed by the Khmer Rouge.

The Khmer Rouge was the name for communist organization which ruled Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. It is The Khmer Rouge are generally held accountable for the deaths of at least a million people. Its official names were Communist Party of Cambodia and later the Party of Democratic Kampuchea.

Sloane: The Echelon satellite system. Phone calls, e-mails, faxes from around the world are filtered through a program capable of flagging key words on an NSA watch list.

Echelon is the largest electronic spy network in history, run by the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. It is estimated to intercept up to 3 billion communications every day.

Marshall: There's me and the Sphinx!

The most famous of all Egyptian sphinxes is the Great Sphinx of Giza, near the pyramids. It dates from before 2500 BC, and is about 20 m (66 ft) high and about 73 m (240 ft) long. In Egyptian mythology, sphinxes were equated with guardian deities, and were represented with the body of a lion and the head of a ram or a man, frequently a likeness of the reigning pharaoh.

Marshall: Um, you know, Bach is my favorite composer.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) was a German composer of the Baroque period, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. During his life time he composed over 1,000 pieces including his most famous fugal writing The Well-Tempered Clavier.

Thatcher Powell: (about Bach) He certainly was the most ingenious composer of the Baroque movement.

The Baroque was a cultural movement in European art that originated around 1600 in Rome. The Baroque music covers time period from Claudio Monteverdi through Johann Sebastian Bach and it's characterized by contrasting phrase lengths, harmony and counterpoint.

Marshall: You know what I always say - if it ain't Baroque, don't fix it!

This is a reference to the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast where a Clock says the same thing.

Sydney: What were you saying to those guards?
Marshall: I think I said, "I can smell you from here" in Ewok.
Sydney: Ewok?
Marshall: Official language of the indigenous creatures on the planet Endor.

Ewoks are furred bipeds native to Endor's moon who helped the Rebel Alliance defeating the forces of the Galactic Empire in Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.
