The entertainment reporter named Robert raises his young son Bobby Jr. while balancing the demands of his ex-wife Neesee who dislikes Robert's new girlfriend, Tia. As much as the two don't even get along anymore, things are more complicated for Robert.

When Neesee and Tia try to out-do each other by planning separate birthday parties for Bobby Jr., Robert insists they have one party for the boy. The Bobby he believes Robert and Neesee will getting back together. But that's all a lie because Robert and Neesee never could agree on things at all, but they realize that they love Bobby and that they will continue loving each other but will not be together anymore, Bobby feels like later trying again to put the two back together but eventually after hurting Tia's feelings about her leaving Robert, it's to no avail and Bobby learns from it.

Robert is preparing for a big interview with the R&B/Hip-Hop/Pop star celebrity of the year, Beyonce Knowles. But things get a little bit difficult when Dirk decides to tell Robert what to ask him. Neesee becomes room mother for Bobby Jr.'s kindergarten class, and buddies up to his teacher---and Tia's best friend---Jonelle.

A network station runs a profile of Robert that makes it appear Tia is Bobby Jr.'s mother. But as much as it is fun, Neesee isn't pleased at all and when Bobby's classmates mistake her for his nanny, she loses her grip and confronts Tia's job by lodging a complaint with the school, which forbids teachers from dating parents.
