Episode Quotes
Stan: You saved my life! How could I ever repay you?
Roger: You got TiVo?
Kid #1: She's a harlot!
Kid #2: They should be stoned!
Jeff: Way ahead of you, kid.
Gertie: Wow, the oval office. Just think of the history that's been made behind that desk.
Roger: Not to mention under it.
Roger: God, who do you have to probe around here to get a chardonnay?
Father Donovan: Look, according to the church, there are no pets in heaven. Eligible for heaven, you got your men, women, children, and apes who use sign language. Not going to heaven, you got your pets, your dinosaurs, your smart types, and self-aware robots. You ever seen Blade Runner? No, of course you haven't.
Francine: We're so glad you could make it. Where's your wife this evening?
Bullock: Handcuffed to a radiator in Fallujah. She wanted to come, but I do not negotiate with terrorists. Hey, do I smell meat loaf?
Francine: Hayley, why don't you say grace?
Hayley: I don't believe in God, remember?
Steve: Well, you sure pray when Jeff is over. "Oh, God! Oh, God!"
Cultural References
Roger: They don't make TV like they used to.
The show Roger is watching is the long running Aaron Spelling soap,
Dynasty (1981-1989).
Two of the characters are featured,
Krystle Carrington (in pink) &
Alexis Carrington (in blue)

The fight in the fountain is an allusion to an actual scene from Dynasty although Krystle & Alexis fight in a pond and not a fountain.
Hayley: Roger?! Whoa! Is this one of those Twilight Zones, but only with horrible, ironic consequences?
This is referring to the episode of the
Twilight Zone called
Long Distance Call that starred Bill Mumy.
Mumy's character was a little boy could talk to his dead Grandmother through a toy phone.

Visual: Gertie
Due to the references in this episode and the episode that aired right after this one, Homeland Insecurity, the character named
Gertie is most likely named after the character of the same name played by Drew Barrymore in the 1982 classic,
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

Roger: God, who do you have to probe around here to get a chardonnay?
Roger's line is quite similar to the line used by
Brian Griffin from Seth MacFarlane's other Sunday night show,
Family Guy.
His is,
"Whose leg do you have to hump to get a dry martini around here?"

Roger: Where's a trail of Reeses Pieces when you need one?
Another reference to the 1982 Steven Spielberg film, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.
In the film, Elliot coaxes E.T. into the house with a trail of Reeces Pieces.
