Episode Notes

Starting with this episode, a new opening sequence is used. While featuring the same music, the interaction with the family has changed and Roger sings the line "Good Morning, U.S.A.!" instead of Stan. Stan ends the sequence by crashing into the C.I.A. sign. The newspaper headlines gags have been replaced by Roger wearing a different costume each episode when he surprises Stan in the SUV.

Cultural References

This episode's title is a variation of the title of the 1984 John Hughes' comedy “Sixteen Candles” starring Molly Ringwald & Anthony Michael Hall

Stan mentions the 1980 drama, “Ordinary People” starring Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Judd Hirsch & Timothy Hutton

While starting to dance with Lisa, Steve sings a few lines of the 1997 song “I Don't Want To Wait” by Paula Cole

As with the title, the final scene with Klaus and Roger and the cake is direct from the 1984 comedy “Sixteen Candles”.
Klaus replaces the character “Jake Ryan” (played by Michael Schoeffling) & Roger replaces “Samantha Baker” (played by Molly Ringwald).
Klaus even does Jake's line of “Yeah you”.
