Jake a thirteen year old skate boarder Asian American from New York finds out that he has the magical ability of becoming a dragon. and that he must look after all the creatures in New York. His grandpa Lao Shi puts him through a series of training procedures which seem useless, but then Lao Shi gets captured by the huntsclan. Will this 'useless training' prove useless after all?

When this episode first aired, the credits were shown with a red background with the shape of a dragon. The second time it was shown, the credits were squished and had a black background with a preview of something else coming on Disney Channel.

When Lao Shi originally goes dragon he appears to be very long, but a little bit later on, he appears the same height as Jake
 
When Lao Shi is fighting Huntsgirl, he gets himself tied up, but in the next scene when he is hit by a net, he is untied.
 
Before and during the fight scene its day time at the shop, but its night time at Jakes house.
