Auditions #2: New Orleans - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens with Blake Patterson’s aftermath of his audition. It didn’t do good and he is a wreak playing the piano. This week they are in New Orleans and the judges get in their seats and have high hopes as always that the hopefuls are going to pull through.

First up to audition is Jordan Dorsey. He teaches piano lessons and enters and sings a jazzy version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. He is good and Steven, Jennifer and Randy all love it and put him through to Hollywood.

The auditions take a turn for a moment when Najsha Palmer, Jarrell Brewer, David LaRocca, and Kiana Cardova prove that it is not that perfect in New Orleans. However, Sarah Sellers may seem to be the one that will change that. She enters and Steven asks where she got the lips from. Randy jokes and tells that she is part of Steven’s family. She sings and has a decent voice. Steven tells that he really liked her voice and all other judges agree. Sarah gets her golden ticket.

Next up is Jovany Barreto. He tells that his family migrated from Cuba and he wants to be able to go through. He comes in and tells that Jennifer is a goddess and sings a Spanish song. It is well sung and Steven tells that it was delicious. Jennifer likes it and Jovany is put through to Hollywood. Before he leaves he tells that he has to take off his shirt and show his abs to Jennifer. Randy and Steven join in the fun and each show their abs.

After a break, they tell fun facts of New Orleans and Randy is from there. Jacquelyn Dupree comes in and she has pictures when Randy was in High School and tells that she has her uncle Jerry, Randy’s football coach, with her. They hug and reminisce. Jacquelyn sings “I’ll Stand By You” and it is amazing. Randy tells that she has a powerful voice. Jennifer calls her awesome. Steven, Jennifer and Randy say yes.

Brett Loewenstern auditions and he too has a sob story about how he was always picked on at school and people ignored him. He comes in and tells that he is going to be singing “Bohemian Rhapsody” and it is amazing. The judges all agree that they are putting him through without hesitation.

Hoping to keep the winning streak alive is Gabriel Franks. He walks in and tells that he won a contest of looking like Steven Tyler. Steven tells that Gabriel has Mick Jager’s mouth. However, when he sings, it is nothing like anything and way too over the top. They reject his chance to go to Hollywood and this sets off a montage of bad singers that are really bad.

Alex Attardo is next and tells that he tells that he went to Idol Camp and that he learned a lot there. He sings and afterward Randy tells that they might have to close down the camp because it is so bad. Jennifer and Steven try to make it less harsh, but Randy tells that it is the truth and Alex came for the truth and not a lie. He walks off rejected.

Next is 15-year-old Jacee Badeaux and he sings amazingly well for a 15-year-old kid. Jennifer tells that he is so sweet and cute. Steven tells that he has a very nice voice and it was great to hear. Randy agrees and Jacee gets his ticket to Hollywood.

Closing auditions in New Orleans is Paris Tassin. She has a sob story of her being a mother of a special needs child and that she made the choice to keep her baby when she was 18 rather than abort it. She comes in and sings. Jennifer feels the struggles that Paris has faced and starts crying a little bit. The judges all say yes to her and she gets her ticket to Hollywood. All in all , 37 hopefuls get their golden tickets to go to Hollywood and Jennifer makes it an effort to say goodbye to Paris and her daughter Kira. Next week, Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
