Las Vegas Day One

Last week a twist was put in and they are going to have to face their biggest challenge with one shot to prove themselves to make it through to reveal the top 24. Tonight the show kicks off with only 61 contestants remain in the competition. The contestants arrive and immediately get into their groups of 2 or 3 that they organized prior to coming to Vegas for their show. Each pair is with a vocal coach who is going to work with them through everything. One vocal coach in particular is extremely harsh and tells that they are going to be swallowed up on stage. She gets in their faces and tells that they are going to croak.

To prepare the contestants for the Beatles songs that they are going to have to sing, they all go to Beatles LOVE by Cirque Du Soleil and they have an enjoyable time. However, when they get back to the auditorium, Jimmy Ivine is there and he has brought the finest in the business of record producers and other collaborators. Lauren Aliana, Denise Jackson and Scotty McCreery take a shot at their team and sing. Jimmy and his team tell them to search for a different song because it is not working in their favor. Jimmy tells that they are going to have to outshine everyone if they are going to have the chance to survive.

The next day, the contestants get ready to perform in front of the judges to see if they have done everything they could to make it through. Stefano Langone and James Durbin are up first and they connect on stage and are on sync with one another. Steven tells that was unreal and thought it was good. Randy tells that that Stefano started off timid, but it was really good. Stefano and James are really happy about their song choice and presentation.

Karen Rodriguez and Pia Toscano are next and they have been singing together for a while in their choir in High School. Singing “Can’t Buy Me Love”, the girls blow it out of the water and it and they shine on stage. Jennifer tells that she feels that they know what they are doing. Steven tells that he was worried that they started off key, but showed that they could recover nicely.

Haley Rienhart, Naima Adedapo, and Jacob Lusk are up and they received constructive criticism from Jimmy last night and are ready to show that they have what it takes. They enter and they have a good time on stage and do the best harmonizing. Jennifer really loved it and they all really sounded great. Steven calls it over the top and it was really great. Randy tells Jacob to never hold back.

Contestants such as Rachel Zevita, Lauren Turner put their spin on the songs, but it is Tim Halperin and Julie Zorrilla who put the best spin to it. After a break, Jerome Bell, Lakeisha Lewis, and Tatynisa Wilson perform an upbeat Beatles song and it is on perfect pitch. They have fun. Randy tells that it was strong, but wasn’t amazing for him. Jennifer tells that Lakeisha was holding back and that Tatynisa doesn’t have the vocals. However, Steven tells that he thought they nailed it.

Kendra Chantelle and Paul McDonald perform and are on key with one another and Jennifer really likes Paul’s voice. Jennifer tells that they sounded beautiful together and there is nothing like it. Steven tells that it was really good and well done. Randy tells that they showed uniqueness on every part of the song and it was very good.

Ashley Sullivan and her boyfriend, David, decide to tie the knot and they get married in the same chapel that Brittany Spears got married in. She looks for an outfit for the wedding and they get married with the American Idol camera guy as their witness. She leaves after the wedding to go to get ready for her performance.

Las Vegas Day Two

The second half of contestants enter the theater and they get settled in. With the first part of the performances out of the way, it is now for the second part of the performances to show that they have just amount of talent as the first group or even better. The judges get settled in their seats and get ready for another round of judging.

Melinda Ademi and Thia Megia are up first of the start of the morning and these were the girls who had the, as the show states it, “The Vocal Coach from Hell”. However, when they start, the vocal was right and they don’t shine like they wanted to. Randy tells that it was interesting and he is unsure. Jennifer agrees and tells that it was alright, but there were some issues with timing and Steven tells that it wasn’t their best.

Ashley Suraiva (formerly Sullivan) and Sophia Shorai sit down with Ryan and she tells that she got married in the same chapel that Brittany Spears got married in. They enter the stage and sing a Beatles song with their own twist on things. Steven tells that it wasn’t their best performance. Randy tells that it wasn’t hot and he didn’t quite get it. Jennifer doesn’t have any words for them and they leave feeling unsure of their performance.

Lauren Aliana, Scottie McCreery and Denese Jackson enter the stage and they have had a rough time finding out the right song for them to sing and be able to show what they have to offer. They sing and it is a little karaoke at the beginning, but Jennifer tells that it sounded good and the harmonies were good. However, the song didn’t fit them. Steven tells that the song wasn’t the greatest for them and Randy agrees with them.

The last to try out are Robbie Rosen, Aaron Sanders and Jordan Dorsey. They enter and they are in perfect harmony and entertain the judges. Randy tells that he was impressed. Jennifer tells that she is always surprised. Steven tells that they all nailed it.

With the performances completed, now for the cuts. Randy tells they all have performed as good as they could and the first round of cuts start off. Thia Megia, Scotty McCreery, Jordon Dorsey, Ashthon Jones, Robbie Rosen, and Lauren Aliana are told to step forward. They are all through to the next round and all breath a sigh of relief that they have survived the performance end. However, they say goodbye to Molly Dewolf, Carson Higgens, Caleb Holly, Denese Jackson and Ashley Suraiva (formerly Sullivan) and Melinda Ademi.

Los Angeles Day One

However, it is not over as the The Top 40 contestants arrive back in Los Angeles for their judgment. They performed an individual piece that is to showcase their individual voices one more time before the judges’ discision to keep them or cut them.

First up to face the judgment seat is Naiama Adadapo. She walks up to the judges after giving an individual performance. She starts off crying because she questions herself. Steven tells that she is going to have to stick it though because she made it through to the top 24. She walks off the stage happy and Jennifer tells that she deserves a shot.

Hollie Cavanagh takes her steps toward the judges and hopes that her final audition has shown the judges that she has what it takes to make it into the Top 24. She gets on stage and tells that she is glad that she is there. Steven tells that he thought that she was not that good and she has shown that she stood out. Jennifer tells that she has shown that she belongs there, but Steven tells that they are not going to put her through. Jennifer tells that she was voted out and that Hollie has a great voice. She tells her to return and grow a little bit.

However, Lakeisha Lewis and Alex Ryan are not so lucky and are not put through. Hoping to not suffer the same fate is Clinton June Gamboa. He tells that he has worked hard for the position and Clinton approaches the judges. Randy asks about the whole Jacee thing and Randy tells that they took everything into account and have decided that he made it through to the next round.

Haley Reinhart walks up to the judges and tells that she has enjoyed the ride so far and tells that she has been trying hard. She tells that she received an answer that she didn’t want last year and so the year has helped her find out who she is. Steven tells that she is in no need of worrying now because she has made it into the Top 24. She is happy and then walks out and shows her enthusiasm.

Deandre Brackensick comes up to the stage and Randy tells that he came close, but tells that he didn’t get close enough. Jennifer tells that have to let him go, but tells that he has a chance to be a recording artist no matter what. They say goodbye to him and he tells that he was close, but there is always next year.

Paul McDonald comes up to the stage and he is a little scared of what the judges have to say to him. However, the judges tell him that they feel that his talent is something new and unique and that they would love to have him in the next round. They put him through to the Top 24 and tell him to keep doing what he is doing.

Ashthon Jones faces the judgment seat and she is on the brink of crying. She tells that she has given it her all and Jennifer tells that she is one of the consistent of singers, but tells that they are unsure of the sincerity. Jennifer tells that they were looking for the best and they see it in her. She gets her pass to the next round of the Top 24.

Chris Medina is up and immediately Chris is feeling scared. He tells that he has given it his best despite having some issues in the middle. His last performance was good. However, the judges point out the faults. Jennifer tells that they have watched him through the competition and has to tell that it is a no for now. Chris thanks them and leaves. However, saying no to Chris is a little too much for Jennifer to take and she breaks down in tears and has a little nervous breakdown. The episode ends with Jennifer not being able to continue giving out decisions. Will Jennifer be able to compose herself to be able to tell the individuals if they have made it or not? Tune in tomorrow when the eliminations continue to reveal the rest of the Top 24.
