1 Of 9 Voted Off - Recap
Tonight is results night and Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Haley Reinhart, Pia Toscano, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, and Stefano Langone are in danger of ending their time on the American Idol stage. The night opens with Ryan saying that Constantine is perfoming along with Iggy Pop performing. The Top 9 sing a medley to I Love Rock & Roll/Sweet Home Alabama. Afterward, they show another Ford Music Video where Pia and Paul are thieves and have a lot of fun. They show a clip of Russell Brand coming in and talking to the contestants and gives some comic relief to them.
Results time and Casey, Stefano and Lauren go to the center of the stage. Ryan says that Casey got a tweet from Kelly Clarkson and Ryan says that Kelly has a little crush and Casey tells that he would rather not say what Kelly messaged him. For Stefano, Randy says that he still thinks it. Ryan says that Jimmy picks on Stefano, but he says that Jimmy knows him. One of them is in the bottom three and Stefano is in the bottom three.
Constantine Maroulis comes out on the Idol stage and sings his rendition of Unchained Melody. He sings good and Ryan says that he is a busy guy with “Rock of Ages” musical and they show that he is a new father too. Afterward, they show a clip of Gwen Stefani styling the girls and they get their look for the evening.
More results and Paul, Scotty, and Pia are asked to go to the center of the stage. Ryan asks if Pia has the stamina to keep it up and she tells that she does. Ryan says that Scotty is safe, but tells that Pia is in the bottom three. Afterward, they show a clip of TMZ giving them media training. They get brutal with the contestants and
More results and James, Haley and Jacob get to the stage. One of them is going to the bottom three and James gets his ticket to safety. With Jacob and Haley left, Jacob is in the bottom three. Ryan reminds that people have to vote to keep their favorite in the competition.
Iggy Pop comes out on stage and he comes out and moves around the stage and jumps in with the contestants and dances they have to edit a lot of his song of course. He shows that he is trying to stay in the Rock genre and gets the audience on their feet and judges.
They get back to the results and they have to say goodbye to one of them. They dim the lights and Ryan tells Jacob that he will be leaving them and going back to the couches. The person who leaves tonight is Pia Toscano. Randy is shocked and everyone is too. Pia tells that she is alright and Ryan asks what happened and Jennifer says that she is shocked and angry and Randy says that he is gutted and says that she is one of the best singers. Steven says that it is a lack of Passion for America. They give her a standing ovation and take a look at her journey. She cries as she watches the video. They are not going to go out without her singing. Randy tells her to sing whatever and she sings “I’ll Stand By You”.
