Auditions #4: Aspen - Recap

The auditions continue and this time they are in Aspen, Colorado. They judges arrive in the city and have a little fun in the snow. The auditions begin and Randy, Steven and Jennifer get in their seats to wait for the talent that is coming in.

The first contestant is Jenni Schick. She is a music teacher and she is very energetic. She tells Steven that he is one her “list” of celebrities that she is allowed to kiss. He says that she better be good at singing. She starts and she is pretty good. Jennifer says that she loves her tone and they all tell her that it is a yes to Hollywood. Jenni goes up to Steven and he gives her a kiss on the lips.

Next is Curtis Gray. He says that he has been performing in a small band and that he has a unique voice. He comes in and sings. He is pretty good and the judges like the sound that they heard. Randy says that it was great and that it was a good song selection. Jennifer says that she likes his tone and it was great. They vote him through to the next round.

This sets off a montage of great acts including Richie Law, Devan Jones and Mathenee Treco. The judges tell them that they are amazing and have strong voices. They all get their golden tickets to Hollywood.

Tealana Hedgespeth is next and she says that she has a twin sister that is really talented. She says that she has been living in her shadow and wants to step out on her own. She sings and it is “interesting”. The judges tell her that they love her personality, but it is a no to the singing.

Next is Haley Smith. She says that she lives in a log cabin and that she loves it. She comes in and says that she is going to sing an Etta James song. She sings it and the judges love her 60s-70s type of style in her voice and call her a “true” flower child. She gets her ticket to Hollywood.

Alanna Snare is next and she is a waitress at a restaurant that serves “Prairie Oysters” which are a delicacy. She sings and it is not good at all. They tell her that she doesn’t have it and that it is going to be a no this time.

Shelby Tweten is next and she says that she has struggled with Depression from 4-years-old. She has been diagnosed with Bi-Polar and that singing helps her. She sings great and Jennifer says that she brought tears to her eyes and Randy says that he loved the voice. They vote her through to the next round of the competition.

Jairon Jackson is next and he sings an original piece that he wrote. The judges like what they hear and Jennifer says that he is a lover. Steven says that he loved it and Jennifer says that he has a great voice and they send him through to the next round.

Next is Angie Zeiderman. She says that she has people call her Lady Gaga because of her personality. She comes in and sings a song from “The Producers”. She moves around the platform and is very animated. Afterward, Jennifer tells her to sing something that is not a Show Tune. She does and it is alright. The judges love her personality and say that her voice is unique and that she has an interesting blend. They give her a ticket to Hollywood.

Magic Cyclops is up last for the night and he is dressed in a gimmick. He says that he is from Iowa and that he owes a lot of gambling debts and that is why he is hiding his face. He sings and it is not good at all. Randy has enough and leaves. Magic has confetti shoot from his back and Jennifer is frightened. They tell him that it is a no and that he can go home now. That’s it for the auditions in Aspen. In total 31 golden tickets where handed out in Colorado. Next stop Houston, Texas!
