After the fall that Symone Black took last episode, the night opens up with the medic looking her over. She is taken to the hospital with a minor condition. After she is escorted out, the judges get to the results. Among the group that performed, Jeremy goes through to the next round while Lauren and Ethan go home. They are not too broken up about it though. In all, 185 hopefuls make it into Group Round. They get ready to begin as they press on to show that they have what it takes to make it in the Groups.

The night begins for Group Night and producer Ken Warwick comes in and tells them that they are going to have to have mixtures of Day One and Day Two singers in their groups. This causes widespread panic as the groups that are already formed are forced to start over. Alicia Burnhart struggles to find a group to sing “Joy to the World” with her. A lot of people think of the Christmas song, but Alicia tells her that it is not that version. Among her, Amy Brumfield, who lived in a tent before this, is struggling because she is feeling sick. Determined, she goes hunting for a group. However, the longer the day goes by, her sickness turns into the flu.

Jackie Sara and Mathony Preko take to the stage and want to sing “More Than a Feeling” and backstage, Amy is breaking down. Dustin Cudom joins with Alicia and Richie Law joins up with Heejun and Phillip Phillips’ group and they get down to rehearsing. Amy Brumfield gets up and goes up to Alicia. Briana Bell is picky about what song she is going to sing. Meanwhile, in the rehearsal space, there are several groups already rehearsing and getting their act polished. Almost everyone finds a group, and when Manthony and Jackie come over, Dustin and Amy decide to go with them. This leaves Alicia alone again. Amy tells Jackie that she has a fever and they tell her not to get her sick.

Later in the night, Alicia finally gets into a group and is able to perform. She makes extra sure that the group likes Cops, because of the fact that she is one. Brielle, a contestant that has done Hollywood Round before, takes charge of her group while Brielle’s mother watches from a distant. Brielle gets a little bossy with them. Her mother doesn’t want to be a “stage mother”, but doesn’t succeed not to be one. Symone Black comes in from the hospital and it turns out that she was dehydrated. Symone finds a group and her dad gets in. Symone kicks him out. Amy Brumfield is still fighting her flu, but Gabrielle of “The Betty’s” is sick. However, she powers through it.

Heejun doesn’t like his group that he is in because of Richie Law and how he is trying to control the group with bizarre harmonies. Richie feels that he knows what he is talking about and the rest of the group doesn’t know anything and it is upsetting Heejun. Around Midnight, some groups call it a wrap while others feel that they need a lot of work. One of those groups consists of Alicia Burnhart’s group and they struggle with getting the words down just right. Group member Christian is sick and has been puking all day. He gets some strength and joins the group. They are happy to have him back, but it doesn’t last long. Meanwhile, Amy Brumfield is feeling better because she has Jesus on her side.

M.I.A. (Heejun and Richie’s group) are all feeling the strain of their voices and decide to call it a night. Richie is determined to do a great job with the song choice and that they are going to have to just listen to him. “The Betty’s” struggle with staying up and two of the four decide that enough is enough for the night and decide to go to bed. However, Jennifer wants to keep practicing. Briana comes back and tells her that she is not leaving until they feel good about their performance. With 2 hours before getting up to perform, Jennifer and Briana get to bed. The next morning, the groups get up and get to rehearsing. “The Betty’s” are the first to perform. However, the episode ends before they get a chance to. Next week, the Groups perform for their spot in the competition.
