Final Judgement #1 - Recap

Tonight 42 contestants will become 24 as the contestants are going to have to perform one last song to show that they have the talent to make it to the Top 24. The contestants arrive at the hotels in Las Vegas and they get to see “Le Reve: The Dream” and watch how it is done. They get ready for the decisions from the judges as they get into the Judgment Room.

Jen Hirsh is first up for the decision as to whether or not she got through to the Top 24. She reflects on her time on the Idol stage and how she feels that she did a great job. In her final performance, she sings and tries to impress the judges. Randy said that he didn’t know if that was her best performance though. She sits down with the judges and Randy says that they are looking for the best of the best. Steven says that it isn’t easy for him. Randy says that she has made it through.

Next to take the long walk is Crieghton Fraker. He thinks about his time on Idol so far and how his unique style set him apart. He says that he grew up as a Preacher’s kid and says that his birth father is in a band from the 80’s. At his final performance, he father is there to wish him luck. He sits down and Jennifer says that everyone has something special and they need to pick the person who has that special something. Jennifer says that he is in the Top 24! He is relieved and shares the news with his family.

Lauren Gray is next and she hopes that she has done enough and says that it would mean everything for her and her father. She reflects on her performances and she knows that she is there for a reason. At her final performance she sings and makes Jennifer smile. She sits down with the judges and Randy says that this is a tough time for them and asks about what happened in Vegas. She says that she didn’t want to disappoint them. Randy says that Lauren has to believe, but says that she didn’t make it this year. They tell her to come back next year though. She says that she won’t ever come back.

Joshua Ledet is up next and he is all nerves about his past performances and how he shined. At his final performance he shows that he doesn’t want to go anywhere. He says that American Idol can change his laugh. He sits down with the judges and shows that he is nervous. Randy says that the better singers don’t quite make it because the stage sucks them up. He says that he wants to find the best and says that Joshua made it through. He is excited sings out his happiness.

As the morning goes on, there are a couple more people cut from the competition including: Blaire Sieber and Naomi Gillies. The judges give them the bad news and tell them that they didn’t make it this year. They walk out in tears.

Haley Johnsen is next and she thinks about her time on the Idol stage and she says that she was just a college student and it is incredibility shocking that she could be in the Top 24 at any moment. She sits down with the judges and says that her biggest goal was to break out of her shyness and says that this has helped her. Randy says that she needs to believe and Steven says that there are people who can sing without believing. For Haley, they tell her that she is through to the Top 24.

Up next is Neco Starr and he walks down the long walk. He reflects on his performances and at his final performance, he aims it to Jennifer. He sits down with the judges and Jennifer says that they have a lot of great singers and says that they have to make sure that they know that they are going to be the best. Randy says that he didn’t make it this time and Jennifer says that he needs to find out who he is.

The rejections keep coming as Clayton Farhat, River St. James and Caleb Johnson who messed up his lyrics and asks for a do-over, are told that they didn’t make it into the Top 24 of the competition.

Next up is Elise Testone and she reflects on her performances. On her final performance, she shows off her vocals to the judges and Randy gets into it. She sits down with the judges and laughs. Randy asks how she thinks that she did. Elise says that she is trying to convey every emotion. Randy says that he doesn’t want to drag this out and Jennifer says that she made it through. Randy says that she is very talented.

Reed Grimm is up next and he says that his whole life is to perform to the world so this is it. He remembers his past performances and how he felt confident. He says that his father past away from Cancer a little while ago and he has been trying to get through. At his final performance he hits the drums again and has fun. He sits down with the judges and he says that he showed more of him. Randy says that he wants to show off his vocals and not to Scatting. Steve says that they are looking for the American Idol singer. They tell him that he is that person and vote him through.

Next is Erika Van Pelt. She remembers the performances that she gave on the stage. At her final performance, she tries her hardest, but Jennifer comments that she didn’t like the song for her. Erika sits down with the judges and Jennifer says that they were disappointed in her performance and says that they need to decide whether or not it is going to be worth it to keep her. She says that they are going to take a chance with her and they tell her that she is going through to the next round.

Chelsea Sorrell is next and she reflects on her time on Idol and after the mess-up in Hollywood round, she is nervous that she didn’t perform well enough for them. She sits down with the judges and Randy says that they don’t like this day. Jennifer says that they have picked talented guys and girls and Randy says that the bar is raised. Steven says that she is going through to the next round and is excited. She tells them that she loves them all.

Baylie Brown goes up to the judges next and she remembers her performances and how she was consistent. At her final performance, she feels that she was good as well. She sits down with the judges and admits that she could have done better with some of the performances. Steven says that she is consistency good and bad. However, she toys with her and says that he is not happy saying this. He says that he is ecstatic and says that she is going through.

Richie Law is up first and he thinks about his performances and says that he is there to win it all. At his final performance, he isn’t too confident with his song. Richie sits down with the judges and says that he knows that he has things to work on. Randy says that he did a great job with the low notes and Jennifer says that he was good, but it is not good enough for Idol. He walks off unhappy. However, he says that he walked away with a lot.

Heejun Han is next and he is sweating. He helps kids with special needs and thinks about his performances and at his final performance; he wants to impress the judges and calls Jennifer beautiful. He says that if he can kiss Jennifer, it would be enough. He sits down with the judges and says that he feels that someone else is taking over. Steven says that he is a star and that is why he is through to the Top 24. He is overcome with emotion and Phillip Phillips is there to congratulate him.

Jessica Sanchez is next up and as she walks down the long walk to the judges, she says that she is ready to go all the way. She remembers her time on stage and she says that her family has sacrificed so much time to help her singing. At the final performance, she shows her emotion on the stage. She says that she is tired to see her family struggle and she sits down with the judges. Jennifer says that she did a really great job and asks her to join the Top 24. She is speechless and she says that this is the biggest thing to happen to her.

Next up is Phil Phillips and he is reflecting on his performances and is unsure that it was enough. At his final performance, he struggles with getting the judges to enjoy it. Phil sits down with the judges and they tell him that it has been rough for him and he says that if he goes home, he will feel alright. Jennifer says that he isn’t going home and has made it to the next round.

Colton Dixon is next and he reflects on his time on Idol. He dedicates his final performance to his sister Skylar. He sits down with the judges and Randy says that his is a unique situation. He asks why Colton didn’t want to audition. Colton says that he was running with what the judges gave him. They tell him that he is going through to the next round. He goes out to his family and says that it is all for Skylar.

Brielle Von Hugel is next and she reflects on her time on the stage and how she poured out her heart. On her final performance, she shows that she doesn’t want to go home just yet. She goes up to the judges and sits down. They tell her that she is a great singer with a lot of attitude. Steven says that she is going through to the next round.

Next is Adam Brock and he remembers his time on Idol so far and says that when he sang “Georgia On My Mind”, it was a great moment on the stage. He says that he is doing this for his family. However, his final performance makes him have second thoughts. He sits down with the judges and is very emotional. The episode ends before revealing Adam’s fate.
