With the elimination of Skylar Laine, it is down to four. Hollie Cavanaugh, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez are still fighting for the title. The night kicks off and the singers are going to be singing with “California Dreaming” as their theme. This means that songs that the singers wish they would have written it. Ryan comes out and welcomes the judges and crowd.
First up for the night is Phillip Phillips. He says that he never knew that he would have made it this far. He says that he is having a lot of fun in the competition. He comes out and sings “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” by CCR. Afterward, Steven says that he is living proof that the road to success is full of construction and says that it was great. Jennifer says that he showed a different side and it was amazing. Randy says that it started off rough, but then once he smiled, it was really great.
Hollie Cavanaugh is next. She says that it is amazing how far she has gotten in the competition verses last year. She says that she needed to go for it and have fun. She comes out and sings “Faithfully” by Journey. Afterward, Randy says that she is peaking at the right time and says that she has been doing a great job. He says that she wants to have the whole thing. Jennifer says that it is a beautiful thing to see how much she has grown. She says that it was beautiful. Steven says that he has watched her blossom and says that she makes it bloom every time.
Next up is Joshua Ledet. He says that after he was rejected last year, he decided to come back and try again. He says that this journey has been an amazing one and that he has had a lot of fun so far. He comes out and sings “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban. Afterward, Jennifer says that this is going to be interesting from now until the end because they have strong singers. She says that it was another great performance. Steven says that he sang his little tush off and says that everyone is excepting him. Randy says that he loves everything he does and says that he has a ginormous career ahead of him.
Jessica Sanchez is up next. She says that she has been singing since she was 5 on stage and she can’t believe that she is one of the four up there. Singing “Steal Away” by Etta James, she comes out and sings. Afterward, Jennifer says that she is happy to see that the growl was still there. She says that she is one of the best she has seen in a long time. Steven says that he loved it and says that it showed the other side of her voice and says that it was great. Randy says that he loves that she can tap into song and says that she was amazing.
Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet join up again to sing “This Love” by Maroon 5. They have a lot of fun on stage. Afterward, Steven says that it was perfect and says that it was a great song. Jennifer says that was a perfect song and it was like Adam Levine and Usher coming together and it was an unexpected treat. Randy says that he loved it and says that it sounded amazing.
Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanaugh come out and sing “Eternal Flame” by the Bangles. They have fun swinging and then have fun on stage. Afterward, Randy says that it was a little strange and they didn’t perform at their best. Jennifer says that it showed the sweetness of their voices. Steven says that they sang it and that is all they can do.
After a sneak peak of “Rock Of Ages” and the Top 4 meeting the director, the Top 4 sing a Foreigner song.
Phillip Phillips comes up next. Jimmy Iovine and him decide on him singing “Volcano” by Damian Rice. He says that he sees Phillip blooming into himself. He says that he is thrilled for Phillip. He comes out and sings. Afterward, Steven says that he sang that song the way he should and says that his voice was great. Jennifer says that very few people could have pulled that off and says that it was the most beautiful moment a contestant could have had. Randy says that this is what it’s all about. He says that was one of the best performances of his.
Hollie Cavanugh is next. Jimmy works with her and Hollie is going to sing “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raite. He says that she can’t over-sing this and that she is going to make people cry with this song if she works at it. She comes out and sings. Afterward, Steven says that it fell a little short on how she can sing. Jimmy says that it is hard to interpret a song without having the rough experiences. Jennifer says that it was too much shaking and vibrato. Randy says that the song choice wasn’t great. He says that this gave her nowhere to go with the song.
Joshua Ledet is up next. Jimmy and he pick “This is a Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown. Jimmy says that he got to record the song with James Brown and says that he doesn’t have to keep singing because he is good. He comes out and sings. Afterward, he gets the first standing ovation of the night. Steven says that he could go home now and says that was amazing. Jennifer says that it was the best and that he knows that what he is about. Randy says that he is the best in the competition and that he did an amazing job.
Last up for the night is Jessica Sanchez. She and Jimmy decide on “And I’m Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson. Jimmy says that he will remember this moment with her and says that it was great and if the judges see what he saw, the game will be over for the others. She comes and sings. Afterward, she gets a standing ovation. Steven says that it was another winning performance and over the top. Jennifer says that it is going to be a race to the finish and says that there is nothing to say because her vocal ability is amazing. Randy says that she took on a hard song and slayed it.
