With the elimination of Devin Valez last week, it is down to the Top 7: Burnell Taylor, Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb and Kree Harrison to win it all. Judges Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey make their way to their table. Ryan Seacrest come out and welcomes everyone. Tonight’s theme is Rock. They have Orianthi as guitarist for tonight.
First up for the night is Burnell Taylor. The other contestants talk about his laugh, hand movements and mumbling and say that it is funny. Burnell comes out and sings “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi. Afterwards, Keith that last kick was like a dare, He is going to assume that Rock is not his thing and says that he was uncomfortable about it. Nicki says that she reminded her about a Teddy Rupskin Bear and even though Rock is not his thing, she still wanted to hug him. She says that he still needs to give his own style when singing a song. Randy says that he was behind the beat and says that it is a good learning experience. Mariah says that she was proud of him and says that he had fun with it. She agrees with the other judges, but he did a great job.
Angie Miller & Lazaro Arbos come out and sing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. Afterwards, Nicki says that was nice and Lazaro forgot the lyrics again. Randy says that it was alright and Lazaro got better. Mariah says that this song was not a duet and says that it must have been hard when Lazaro forgot the lyrics. Keith says that it wasn’t a great duet for them and says that it was like a Variety Show type of feel to it.
Kree Harrison is up next. The other contestants talk about how Kree is the Den Mother and how she knows everyone’s names. They say that she is a hugger. She comes out and sings “Piece Of My Heart” by Janis Joplin. Afterwards, Randy says that now the show finally started and says that he loves seeing the bluesy side to her. Mariah says that it was incredible and says that she is going to be so involved in her label and says that tonight was possibly her favorite. Keith says that it seemed a little hard for her to move around and something was holding her back. She says that she has a pinched nerve, but she powered through. Nicki says that was magnificent despite the nerves. She would get all 50 of her votes if she was voting. She says that her nurturing comes out in her voice and says that she is out of there.
Next up is Burnell Taylor & Candice Glover. They come out and sing “The Letter” by the Box Tops. Afterwards, they get a standing ovation. Mariah says that they both have proven that they can sing everything. They did justice to the song. Keith says that it was a great song for them two and says that Burnell was in the zone and Candice showed up and improved it too. Nicki says that Candice’s voice is superior and tells Burnell that he did a great job on this. Randy says that Burnell was good, but Candice was amazing.
Janelle Arthur is up next. The other contestants say that she is as Country as she gets and how everything is like a soap opera. She comes out and sings “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel. Afterwards, Keith says that he loves the boots and says that he loved how she worked the stage and says that she came out great despite the song not being the best for her. Nicki says that fashion is her area. She says that the performance was exceptional and says that she is every girl’s best friend. She likes how she relates. Randy says that she was real and honest and says that he loves that this fit her like a glove. Mariah says that she loved the key that she was in because her vibrato came out more and says that was great. She says that something comes from her and it is real.
Next up is Lazaro Arbos. The contestants talk about how Lazaro wears bright colors. They talk about his dramatic poses. He comes out and sings “We Are The Champions” by Queen. Afterwards, Nicki says that was giving her some latin vibe and says that he did the song justice. Randy says that he did a good job with it. Mariah says that she was concerned, but did a really good job on the song. Keith says that was a really good song choice for him and says that it played to dramatics and says that it was great.
Janelle Arthur, Amber Holcomb and Kree Harrison come out and sing “It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me” by Billy Joel. Afterwards, Randy says that was unbelievable and says that for a second he thought that they were a group. Mariah says that it was really nice with nice blending. Keith says that Billy Joel songs are great and says that they were great together. Nicki says the song choice was too cheesy. However, Amber was great.
Next up is Candice Glover. The other contestants say that Candice has her own room and how she always yells at Burnell and treats him like a brother. “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones. Afterwards, Mariah says that every performance brings a different part of her. Keith says that he can feel her pain from here and says that her voice is so good. Nicki says that her voice is amazing, but didn’t like the song choice. Randy says that he loved that she brought the attitude to the song and says that she it was great despite it being a bad song choice.
Amber Holcomb is up next. The other contestants talk about how Amber talks to herself and that she is pretty. Burnell has a little crush. She comes out and sings “What About Love” by Hearts. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Keith says that was a great song choice and says that brought out the best in her voice. Nicki says that the first line melted her and says that thinks that this has o be her favorite of the night. Randy says that he loved that she didn’t lose Amber in there and that she found herself in the song and says that it was well done. Mariah says that she did a really great job and that her natural inflections were great.
Last up for the evening is Angie Miller. The other contestants talk about how excited Angie gets excited over the littlest things. They talk about she uses her eyes to her advantage. She comes out and sings “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence. Afterwards, Nicki says that this was a perfect choice for her given the circumstances. She says that her original is where she shines and the Colton Dixon thing. Randy says that he loves the edgy side of things and says that she did an amazing job with this. Mariah says that it is all about the song choice and says that it is hard and says that she agrees with the edginess and says that it was a perfect match. Keith says that he loved it and says that she needs to feel every song. He says that she has the ability to fall into a song. That’s it for the performances!
