With Lazaro Arbos out of the running, it is a Girl’s year to win idol as the Top 5: Kree Harrison, Angie Miller, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover and Amber Holcomb are left to win it all. Ryan Seacrest comes out and welcomes the crowd. The first round is The Year of Birth and the next round is Divas.

First up is Candice Glover. Her year is 1989. She says that she loves to play fight and she is singing “Strait Up” by Paula Abdul. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, Keith says that was so good and says that her vocals were incredible with her runs were effortless. Nicki says that she congratulates her for making the Top 5 and says that she loves that she pushed hard. She says that the song was great and liked how she put her own spin. Randy says that it was interesting and says that she is so relaxed that it is like she is feeling where she should be. Mariah says that it was smart and says that no one can do what she does. Jimmy says after the break that Candice should have shown her biggest vocals instead of this.

Janelle Arthur. Her year is 1989. She says that she tried to sing even before she could even talk. She says that she going to sing “When I Call Your Name” by Vince Gill. She says that the song made her stop crying when she was little. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, Nicki says congratulations. She says that Janelle does a great job with her guitar and says that it was great. Randy says that the song brought her back and says that it was really great. He says that she sang with her heart. Mariah says that she believed her and says that it was so raw and real and to not allow the negativity take her away. Keith says that for him, the song wasn’t about melody, but with emotion. He says that her voice is angelic, but he didn’t feel that tonight. Jimmy says after the break that Keith was right about Janelle and it wasn’t enough.

Next is Kree Harrison. Her year was 1990. She says that she never took off her boots. When she was little, she got up and sang in church. She is going to sing “She Talks To Angels” by Black Crows. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, Randy says that he loves her and says that he loves the naturalness of her voice and says that she has the natural blues and soul in her voice. Mariah says that she can sing anything and that she would love it. She says that she didn’t have to perform like she attempted to do. Keith says that he found that she didn’t feel comfortable doing the movements. He says that her voice is so fine. Nicki says (in a British voice) that it was the best performance. She says that it was current. Nicki and Mariah have a little tiff and they quickly squash it. Jimmy backstage says that this song wasn’t strong enough for her vocal.

Up next is Angie Miller. Her year was 1994. She says that she was a fat baby and really
“I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Mariah thanks Angie for the dedication to Boston. She says that she loves the Pretenders and says that it was a great choice to make. Keith says that she loves her at the piano and says that she looks forward to her hitting the road and says that she has such an amazing voice. Nicki says that she is so glad that she made the choice to be on the piano and says that she knows who she is. She congratulates her. Randy says that these Top Five girls are the best they have had. He says that she is on her way. Jimmy backstage says that Angie took the song and turned it into a Power ballad and says that it was the best performance.

Last up for the first round is Amber Holcomb. Her year was 1994. She says that when she was 7, she used to sing and always wanted to be a news reporter. She is going to sing “Without You” by Mariah Carrey. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Keith says that was beautiful and says that she has grown leaps and bounds. Nicki says that that on the lower registers, there was no feeling. She understands that she wanted to go to the high notes. She didn’t like it. Randy says that he gives her mad props because she Mariah is a legend. He says that she did a damn good job. Mariah says that her mom used to sing that to her as a baby and says that she felt that she made some new choices that were great. Jimmy backstage says that Nicki was right about the low register wasn’t good, but she is second best.

The next round begins and up next is Candice Glover. She is going to sing “When You Believe” by Mariah Carrey and Whitney Houston. She says that she can make Mariah proud. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Nicki says that is how she does a Mariah Carrey Whitney Houston song. She says that she would watch it over and over and says that she really says that there is a bigger message here. Randy says that again that is the best vocal of the night and says that she is in the zone. He says that she has one of the best voices. Mariah says that she did a great job and says that she is impressed. Keith says that he loves her voice because it stops what he is thinking and says that it was great.

Next up is Janelle Arthur. She says that she is going to sing “Dumb Blonde” by Dolly Parton. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, Randy says that he thought that it was a fun song, but vocally, it didn’t show much. Mariah says that she loves to see her connected to the song and says that they also want her to show America her chops. Keith says that her voice is so good and says that wasn’t the best song to shine. Nicki says that ultimately she wants to be careful to what she says and says that she is in jeopardy of going home tomorrow. However, she can go far in the real world.

Up next is Kree Harrison. She says that she is going to sing “Have You Ever Been In Love” by Celine Dion. She says that she has loved her since she can remember. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, they give her a standing ovation. Mariah says that it was a really smart choice. She says that the song got away from her slightly, but she reeled it in. She has shown her versatility. Keith says that it was great and says that she stayed in an effortless place of control and it was amazing. Nicki says that she is back and says that she is iconic and says that she is one of those Divas where they can see just sing and says that it was great. Randy says that it was great, but says that she can sing anything. He says that she is just great.

Next is Angie Miller. She says that she is going to sing “Halo” by Beyonce. She wants to make sure that she has the same power off the piano like she has on the piano. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Keith says that it is definitely Top 3. Nicki says that she is back and says that she did that song justice and says that she her thang. Randy says that she is in it to win it. Mariah says that she loved the clarity in her voice and says that it was great.

Last up for the night is Amber Holcomb. She is singing “What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life” by Barbara Streisand. She says that she wants to make her proud. She comes out and sings. Afterwards, she gets a standing ovation. Nicki says that she doesn’t get the credit she deserves and says that she always gives her Young Whitney Houston. Randy says that she sang the heck out of that and says that she is so good. Mariah says that it was classic and beautiful. She says that she is potentially a massive star. Keith says that it was beautiful and says that she knocked it out of the park. That is it for the performances!
