Auditions #1 (Chicago, IL) - Recap

The episode started off by introducing some singers that we'll see over the auditions, then went to the actual auditions. Derek Dupree was the first contestant, he claimed to be able to sing in three different pitches. He offered to come back in one hour to sing, the judges reluctantly accepted. Katrina Yaukey was the second contestant, she didn't make it to Hollywood. Justin Sticht came next, he sang a Queen song and Beyond the Sea. He also did not make it to Hollywood. Contestant 897 claims he did not make it through because his legs were too hairy, although he was wearing a dress and a wig with blonde pigtails.

Twins came in to sing, they both made it to Hollywood, it was the first succesfull audition of the day. Then Gina Glocksen came in, she sang Power of Love, by Celine Dion. Another Gina came in and kept starting to sing, but seemed to have trouble. Mandisa Hindley came in, and got a 1, 2 and 3 yes. Kevin Brennanman came in, he didn't make it to Hollywood. Charles Berry, who has auditioned twice before,then came in to sing. He said that he had done what the judges had told him to do. Simon told him that he would make a great female impersonator. Another contestant, Amanda comes in and sings. Simon tells her that it was horrible. She didn't make it to Hollywood. Brandon Groves, a Deputy Sheriff came in to sing. The reaction from Paula was "for real"? Obviously, he did not make it to Hollywood.

It goes to Ryan and Derek Dupree on the street trying to find someone for Derek to sing to. Christine Davis wore a prom dress, that looked like a wedding dress in and sang My Heart Will Go On, by Celine Dion. She didn't make it to Hollywood. Derek found someone to sing to. A guy dressed as the statue of Liberty came in. He left 2 seconds later. Derek Dupree came back in to sing to the judges. He got another no. Erik Lawhon came in to sing, he did not make it. The grandmother of Erik had a conversation with Simon and asked him why he was so rude. Brooke came in with her sister, Leah to sing. They both sang seperately. They both made it to Hollywood. Yvette Gomez came in to sing, she did not make it to Hollywood. Zachary came in and made it to Hollywood. Jessica Nelson came in, there was a lot of bleeping. She did not make it. Contestant 522 came out with a gold paper (for Hollywood).

Then, the second day of auditions start, in the same city. David Radford came in and sang. He made it to Hollywood. Crystal, a girl who has a very prominent tan, came in to sing next. She did not make it to the next round. A guy named Stuart then came in to sing, he did not make it to Hollywood. Yuliya from Ukraine came in, so that she could get a Visa that would last longer. She sang Bohemian Rhapsody. She did not make it to Hollywood. Then more twins came in to audition, Joshua and Jarrett Simmons. They sang (to Paula) and made it to Hollywood. David Hoover then came in. He didn't wear shoes and expected to go to Hollywood. After doing some weird sort of dance he made it to Hollywood. Randy and Paula highfive eachother, because Simon said "Never" to the contestant.

After the commercial break, it starts showing some of the contestants who tried (and failed) at singing Lady Marmalade.
