New York City auditions, Part 1 - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Howie, Sharon and Piers are now in New York City, hoping to find more acts that they can pass to the finals in Las Vegas. They are greeted by crowds of people on the streets trying to get a glimpse of the judges as they enter the building. But inside is where the madness really begins.

The first act to take the stage is Fighting Gravity. Before they can begin, Nick warns the audience that the lights are going off. Just then, Fighting Gravity takes the stage in glow-in-the-dark costumes and the audience loves them. The judges also love the act and advance the group of college students to Las Vegas.

Of course, for every great act that the judges see, they see a giant group of bad ones. The sub-par performances in New York City range from a father-and-son singing duo to a guy playing an oversized guitar.

John is a store clerk with big dreams, and one of them is to headline an act in Las Vegas. John's alter ego is a prince from faraway land who calls himself Prince Poppycock. His opera singing is so impressive he receives a standing ovation from Sharon and the audience.

The last act to hit the stage is a comedian named Doogie Horner. The audience hates his act and they keep booing him, but Doogie keeps telling the crowd his jokes. Piers grows tired and pushes his red "X" button. But Howie and Sharon like Doogie's tenacity and they advance him to Las Vegas.
