<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
America’s Got Talent returns and tonight the talent comes from Portland and the hopefuls are lined up to show that they have what it takes to win the $1 Million and the spot to headline in Las Vegas. First up to prove that Portland has talent is “The Magic Bizarre” and they want to surprise the audience and judges with the art of magic. Starting off it is interesting. He is changing masks with every wave of his hand. However, the guy falls off the stage. The act is over and Pierce didn’t get what he was doing. He tells that he changed faces many times within the 90 seconds. It is a quick change act. The judges were unimpressed and “The Magic Bizarre” need to find that magic somewhere else.

The morning doesn’t look good for the judges when acts like the Living Dead Girlz who prove that their act is too weird and get a no across the board, Bloody Maggie and her pet that proves to be strange and stupid, Vee Bee, the singing trapeze artist, that makes you want to cover your ears and Tiny Talent that just had Chihuahuas going out of control with Nick chasing the little dogs and also the judges looking for the lost dogs around the auditorium.

After the break, the judges call the talent weird and hoping to get Portland out of the crazy train, Jeremy from Talent, Oregon wants to impress with his bike riding. Pierce is shocked that there is actually a town called Talent. As always, Nick volunteers to lie on the ground so that Jeremy can prove his skills with his bike and Nick comes away unharmed. During his act, Jeremy makes one mistake and Pierce buzzes him. After he jumps on boxes and everything, he gets the spot to Vegas from Howie and Sharon. Pierce sticks to his buzz and says no but calls it interesting.

This shows off a montage of talent that involves “Bhangra Empire”, an Indian cultural dance group that was fun and colorful and get though, “The Strange Familiars” impress with their playing and singing, and dance group “Northwest Dance and Acro” impress with, like in their name, Dance and Acrobatics. The girls get through to the next round and are all smiles.

Next up is rock band “Airpocalypse” and they are ready to rock out. Entering without instruments, they are an air band meaning that they play air instruments. They start off with a country song and it starts off twangy and bad and Pierce is ready to buzz. But then they switch up the music to a Black Sabbath song and really entertain the crowd with their air guitar playing. After they perform, Sharon, the manager of Black Sabbath, tells that the music choice was sensational and tells that their stage performance was electric. Howie tells it would be fun to go to an air guitar concert. Pierce walked up and sees the red sparkling sunglasses and puts them on. He says that he is feeling the music. Thus “Airpocalypse” move on to Las Vegas.

After the break, Iron Horse impresses with their playing and get through. Chello player Rebecca Roudman is up and enters on stage. She wants to impress with her cello playing and it turns out to be just a bunch of noise as the music teacher fails to impress. Pierce tells that he would be punished with her playing when he dies. As more acts arrive, Conner Doran is an indoor kite flier that wants to impress the judges. Conner is an epileptic and uses kite flying as a way to deal with his condition. With “Arms of an Angel” playing in the background, Conner flies his kite and it is really impressive and soothing. With a standing ovation, everyone is impressed. Pierce was going to laugh at the beginning but calls it the most extraordinary thing he has seen in his life. Howie calls it wonderful. Sharon calls it relaxing and spiritual and Conner gets through to Vegas.

Back at America’s Got Talent, ready to perform magic for the judges and audience, William Scott Anderson, a medical evacuation pilot, wants to be able to get through to Vegas. William Scott starts up with showing his America’s Got Talent box and puts his assistant in it that he then folds in a small box. He puts swords through it and then unfolds the box again and his assistant comes out unharmed. It is a yes for the soldier and he moves on to Vegas to prove his magic skills to a larger audience.

The first day comes to a close and last contestant Sally Cone a retired 75 year old teacher wants to impress the judges and audience with her talent as a hand whistler and it is impressive that she can hit every note with the song “Oh Beautiful”. Sharon is unimpressed and buzzes. Pierce chastises her. Howie shows his patriotism and puts a hand on his heart. At the end, he tells that she is unique and that she is amazing. Sally tells that she wrote a book and happens to have them. Howie buys her book from her for $12 and tells Sharon to read a passage. Sally tells him to be careful what he reads because it is not just about hand whistling. Sharon says no despite what the audience says. Pierce tells the old lady that she is going through despite what Sharon says. Backstage the judges are still talking about Sally and how she was entertaining. Day one ends with some talent and the judges are in good spirits.
