Top 10 Compete - Recap

The past eight weeks have been sensational and interesting. The Top 10 performing tonight are: Michael Grasso, Christina and Ali, Studio One Young Beast Society, Taylor Mathews, Jeremy Vanschoonhoven, Anna and Patryk, Fighting Gravity, Prince Popycock, Michael Grimm and Jackie Evancho. As they say, “It’s time to unleash the talent”! It is LIVE and it is the Top 10. Nick Cannon comes out on stage and Enrique Iglesias is going to perform tonight and only 4 spots remain from the Top 10. The judges don’t have a vote on this and it is strictly the voters at home. The judges enter and they are ready to go. They show a clip of the judges offering their advice. Piers tells that it is going to be tough and it comes down to how they are going to perform tonight.

First up to perform is Studio One Young Beast Society. They tell that they were nervous last week and Julia Johnson is their dance choreographer and tells that they have to do tricks that they have not seen before and the pressure is on. They enter in and are in sync with their dancing. They land every move that they had trouble with in the rehearsals and they win over the crowd and receive a standing ovation. Piers tells that every time that they see them, they are getting better. Sharon tells that as usual, their ambition shows in their dancing. She tells that they worked hard and that it was phenomenal. Howie tells that they are the best act so far tonight and that they did a phenomenal job. One of the dancers says that they put the routine together in two days.

Next to perform is Christina and Ali and they say that it is their mom and dad who have the greatest influence in their lives. The parents are proud and Piers tells that America is starting to see them as singers. They are going to sing their hearts out. Singing an upbeat song, the girls sing their hearts out. Sharon is impressed that Christina got good at hitting the high notes and says that it was an enjoyable performance. Howie tells that they make them smile and that the scary part is that they have to compete with people who are doing death defying acts. Piers tells that the whole routine was good and that they are not the best “technical” singers but that they bring the best out of everyone and makes them happy. Ali tells that they did their best and that is what they wanted.

Jeremy Vanschoonhoven is up next and his parents talk about how determined he is and Jeremy tells that he had to set up the scene but couldn’t practice because of his injuries from the last episode. He gets ready and begins with riding down the stairs and showing that he has what it takes to make it into the Top 4 next week. He hits every mark and doesn’t slip at all! The crowd goes wild at the end at the talent. Howie tells that he loves the danger and from the moment he started, Howie’s heart was in his stomach. Piers tells that he didn’t think that Jeremy could have ever had a chance to make it in the Top 4 but he is not saying that now. He tells that it was amazing. Sharon tells that her stomach is always in knots and that every performance he is getting more and more popular. Jeremy tells that he has put everything into the performances.

After the break, Taylor Mathews is hoping to WOW the country and he tells that he is nervous and that he found music and it gave him the chance to open up. Piers tells that he is not the best singer, but has the most potential. He is determined to tuck the nerves away. He comes out with his guitar and sings a jazzy version of “What a Wonderful World”. He hits every note and Piers asked who picked the song and arrangement and he tells that he did. Piers tells that it was the best performance by a mile. Sharon tells that he doesn’t have the best singing voice but tells that his performance side of things is amazing. Howie tells that he did an amazing job and it was really entertaining. Taylor tells that he had a lot of fun and that he is very happy of it too.

Up next to show that they have talent is Anna and Patryk. They tell that they are really excited to be in the Top 10 and that it is amazing. They are going to be trying a new trick and they are not too sure if it is going to be able to work on stage, but they are going to do their best. They enter on stage and Anna slips coming down the stairs. But this doesn’t get them down and they dance perfectly in a swing move and they make the flip move perfectly too. After the performance, all the judges ask if Anna is alright and she tells that she is. Sharon tells that even though she slipped, she got right back up and showed that she is a performer. Sharon tells that she has a daughter that likes boys with Ferrari’s and tells Patryk to call her. Howie asks if she is hurt and if she is not hurt why is she crying. He tells that they did an amazing job. Piers tells that she is crying because she slipped in the Top 10 competition. But he tells that she was professional and got right back up like nothing happened.

After the short break, they take a break from the acts and takes a moment to listen to Enrique Iglesias singing “I like it”. He gets everyone moving in their seats and shows what it means to be a recording artist that has sold a lot of albums internationally. He goes up to the judges and gives Sharon a little kiss. Nick asks if Sharon is a good kisser and he tells that she is a much better kisser then him.

Fighting Gravity are up and they love that they got the support from their family and friends and Howie tells that Fighting Gravity is the group to beat. They tell that they have been working to make it worth while to everyone. They enter on stage and they start with interesting acts of floating and showing their stuff with lasers in the mix this time. Howie tells that he loves Fighting Gravity and that he finds it phenomenal and that they don’t have a problem getting the votes at all. Piers tells that they are like him, smart and attractive. All joking aside, he tells that their act is the act that is screaming Las Vegas. Sharon tells that they are definitely have their show in Vegas no matter what. They tell that they have good stuff in store but they have to be voted through.

Up next is Michael Grimm and he tells that his whole life has been a struggle and now that he is 30 and tells that his grandmother is the talk of the town. He says that he doesn’t want to blow it. He is taking a gamble without the guitar and wants to get to the finals for his grandparents. Singing a Al Green song, he has the talent to back up the song and his soulful voice comes out and gets a standing ovation. Piers tells that he is confident with who he is and has proven why he is one of the famous. Sharon tells that he is not hiding behind the guitar and that it was amazing. Howie tells that he is his favorite and tells that getting rid of the guitar and really opened to the audience. Michael tells that he always wanted to sing the song and made the choice.

Michael Grasso is up and he is happy that he was able to get into the Top 10 and that he is fortunate to have his brother Joe with him. Sharon tells that his illusions are getting better and better. He is going to fight for a place in the finals. He enters on stage and puts a girl in the box, puts swords in it and wheels it up to a curtain. He gets behind the curtain for a second and the girl that was in the box is looking out. She takes the swords out and the person, who you would have thought to be Michael was another assistant. Michael is one of the other assistants in disguise. All three judges are amazed and Sharon tells that he gets better and better every time and that it would be crazy if America didn’t vote him through. Howie is still amazed and wants to know how he did it. He tells that he wasn’t looking. Howie tells that America has to vote him through so that he can know how he did the trick.

Prince Poppycock is up to wow the audience and he tells that it is the culmination of his life’s dream. Sharon tells that he is an artist and is phenomenal. He tells that he is not going to play it safe and is going to be Prince Poppycock’s love letter to America. He comes out on stage from the ceiling dressed in stars and stripes and sings a medley of American Pride songs. He hits every note and gives a show. In return, the audience gives him a standing ovation and Howie tells that he could headline a show because he is a show. He tells that he is unique. Piers tells that he is amazing and that there is no word to describe him. Sharon tells that she agrees and tells that he was amazing in everything that he did.

The final act of the Top 10 is Jackie Evancho. She tells that she was thinking on how amazing it was. Sharon asks how often she practices and she tells that she practices everyday for 1 hour. Singing an opera song, she hits every note and gets a standing ovation from everyone in the audience and judges. Piers tells that he doesn’t know what to say. He tells that she has a voice that he was amazingly. Sharon tells that it was heavenly and tells that she will never ever forget and tells that her voice is amazing. Howie asks if she ever swallowed a grown up. He tells that he is honored to be able to hear her sing tonight. Jackie tells that her dad couldn’t make it but she knows that he is proud of her. The performance are over and the voting now begins.
