Twelve of the top 48 acts perform - Recap
The next 12 contestants are up to see if they can get into the Semi-Finals of America’s Got Talent. Summerwind Skippers, Sh’Boss Boys, Mauricio Herrera, Seth Grabel, Poplyfe, Ian Johnson, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Purrfect Angelz, Monet, Captain & Maybelle, Lys Agnes and Professor Splash are up for tonight’s talent and Nick comes out to welcome everyone and the judges. Sharon says that she is ecstatic to see the talent tonight and see what they are going to bring to them.
First up are “Summerwind Skippers”. They tell that they are more then friends and they like to take their talent to the next step and want to get to the Semi-Finals. They have to make sure that they are synchronized otherwise it will go wrong. They come out on stage and they impress with their talent with the jump rope and get a standing ovation. Piers says that he was going to be horrible, but they were amazing and made skipping sexy. Sharon says that they are current and were great and didn’t make it look like you were stuck in the school yard. Howie says that they’re good, but doesn’t know if he would like to see it for a while. They tell how complex their act is and they feel that they nailed it.
Up next are “Sh’Boss Boys”. They are happy to be in the Quarter-Finals and say that it is going to fun. They come out singing “ABC” by Jackson 5 and then do their own rap to finish it up. Sharon says that they thoroughly entertained her and says that they have the cut factor of it all. Howie agrees and says their adorability factor is high and that they are cut. Piers tells them to forget the cover songs and just stick to the rapping because it is what is going to get them to the next round.
Mauricio Herrera is next and he says that people are recognizing him on the street and he is taking a lot of pictures with people. He comes out and sings Vegas show songs and Piers and Sharon buzz his act. At the end, Howie says that he felt that he was watching Telemundo in English and says that it was fun. Piers says that he is a nice guy, but he would go out of the hotel that had him playing. Sharon says that the galloping threw her off, but says that he is a lot of fun. Mauricio says that he is trying to be a complete entertainer and hopes that America got it.
Illusionist Seth Grabel is up next and he says that he is excited that he got another chance and says that he is going big. During rehearsal, he slips and says that he is bringing the danger. He comes in and does the trick with no problems at all and amazes everyone. Howie says that was spectacular and says that he really stepped it up and hopes America votes him through. Sharon says that the trick was awesome and says that it was really great. Piers says that was his best performance and it was great.
Up next is “Poplyfe”. During rehearsing through the weeks, the lead singer loses her voice. They hope that she has it back when the performance comes. They come out and sing “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. Her voice squeaks from the fact that she lost it a little while back. However, she rocks the place. Howie and Sharon along with the rest of the audience give them a standing ovation. Sharon says that they took a risk, but the performance was fantastic. Howie says that they are the best act of the night. Piers says that he saw the point of the band and says that the entire thing was great.
Ian Johnson is next and he says that he wants to impress the world with his Yo-Yo talent. He starts off and messes up quite a bit. Piers buzzes the kid right away. At the end, Howie says that Ian had a couple of flub-ups and says that he is probably going to be a really good Yo-Yoer, but doesn’t know if it is Vegas. Piers says that people aren’t going to pay for that. Sharon says that more of the personality that he has needs to come out. Sharon says that Piers needs to stop taking it out on Ian. Nick asks how he felt and Ian says that it is up to America.
Next is Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. He says that his life has changed already and he likes to sing. He comes out and the Frank Sinatra voice comes out of him. Howie and Sharon give him a standing ovation and so do the audience. Piers asks how he is feeling and Landau says that he is the happiest man in the world. Piers says that he is a big game player. Sharon says that he has talent and she is proud of him and says that he has worked hard. Howie says that he is on track and is huge and has the opportunity to go all the way.
“Purrfect Angelz” are next and they tell that they are former NFL cheerleaders and they want to take their act in Vegas. They start dancing to a country theme. At the end of the act, Piers buzzed them.
Howie says that it was cheesy and says that it was like being at Hooters. Piers tells him to apologize for that and Howie tells him to tell why he buzzed. Piers says that it was better, but says that he doesn’t think that they have a chance of going through to the next round. Sharon says that it was a great performance and says that they are fit, but she doesn’t know if it is a $1 Million act.
Monet is next and says that she was homeless with her family and she is going to sing “Home”. She is alright. Howie tells that she is a beautiful young lady and says that some of the notes were a little sharp and flat, but says that she is a good girl. Piers says that she isn’t pitch perfect, but she has real promise and that in 3-4 years, she is going to be a good singer. She tells that the next performance will be great. Sharon says that she doesn’t like comparing her with anyone and says that she did a good performance. She says that she wanted to sing for her mom and she thanks everyone for her time.
Captain & Maybelle are next and they are up for showing the audience something dangerous. They come out and he lifts a kettle pot with his eyes. Piers says that they are the two most disgusting people in a America. Sharon says that she can’t really judge the whole thing because she didn’t see it. Howie says that they need a hook, but not a hook through the eyelids, nose or tongue. Captain and Maybelle tell that they are not trying to make people sick, but to make them think outside the box.
Next is Lys Agnes and she tells that despite suffering from a horrible loss, she wanted to show her talent. She comes out and sings from the Opera "Carmen". Piers says that she is very talented, but it didn’t knock him out or move him. Sharon says that it moved her and she became the temptress and it came across beautifully. Howie says that she is gorgeous and stunning. He says that he couldn’t see it any better. Lys says that she feels like she is flying when she is performing.
Last act for the night is Professor Splash. He is going to dive from 36 ft into 12 inches of water. He manages to do it without any injuries. Howie says that it is scary to watch and is speechless, but wants to know what he could do to entertain for an hour long show. He says that he plays with Fire and Water. Piers says that is the most stupid and interesting thing to see and says that it was sensational.
Sharon says that was spectacular, but wants to know how the fire is going to come into play and he tells that he jumps through fire into fire. The performances are over and it is up to America to decide who is in and who is out.
