  Season 2
Angel season two brings new characters and plot twists to the series. The series welcomes a new cast member Gunn, first seen in season one as a vampire hunter. Also, karaoke bar owner Lorne serves as an ally for Angel to see his aura when he sings for him.

Angel is plagued by the memories of his old sire Darla. These dreams cause Angel to be in a catatonic state of mind in trying to battle the forces of evil in Los Angeles. Wolfram & Hart want to distract Angel from his mission with hopes to bring him over to the dark side. Angel soon realizes that these are not mere dreams but induced by Darla herself. Angel goes on a crusade to bring down his old sire. After literally stalking her all over Los Angeles, he is amazed to discover she is no longer a vampire. Wolfram & Hart brought back Darla as human as a means to keep Angel from killing her off.

Darla soon learns that she is dying of the same disease she had 400 years ago before The Master sired her. Wolfram & Hart no longer has any use for Darla so they discard her after she becomes a nuisance to the law firm. Lindsey grows a relationship with her but notices that she does not feel the same about him as he does for her. Angel wants to help Darla so he undergoes a series of trials to give her a second chance at life. Angel wins the trials but learns that his trials were worthless since Darla is living out her second life. Darla's second chance is to live now until she dies of what she escaped 400 years ago. Angel is distraught and caught off guard when Drucilla is brought to town to sire Darla as a vampire again.

Angel goes on a mission to bring down Darla and Drucilla after losing so much and after his failure to save Darla. Angel's friends begin to feel alienated since Angel has gotten to the point that he allows humans to die in order for him to accomplish what he wants. Angel eventually tries to burn Darla and Drucilla alive. Drucilla flees town and Darla stays with Lindsey badly injured. After realizing his own darkness, Angel fires the entire team of Angel Investigations.

Angel continues on his dark quest to destroy Wolfram & Hart at any costs. Cordelia, Gunn, and Wesley start in a new office for Angel Investigations. Both sides have different missions. After several attempts to destroy Wolfram & Hart, Angel learns that Wolfram & Hart's home office for evil is none other than right there on Earth. Angel depressed and desperate, goes to Darla for a passionate lustful night. As the night continues, Angel is awakened. Darla believes he is losing his soul. Angel, on the other hand, informs her that he has had an epiphany. Angel orders Darla to leave town, which she does. Angel tries to find the gang and help them. The team is not so welcoming after he betrayed them. Eventually, they forgive him but they demote him. Angel is no longer the team leader. Wesley is put in charge of Angel Investigations.

After what would seemingly be the end of the season, a mysterious creature arrives in Los Angeles from a dimension named Pylea. The Powers That Be send Cordelia a vision of a girl who was sucked up by a portal in a library. Angel Investigations invite Lorne to help them, which he eventually agrees to. After killing the monster and the beast, Cordelia is sucked up through a Pylean portal. Angel, bent on not losing another friend, finds a way to get Lorne and the gang to Pylea.

Angel discovers his true demon in Pylea with clear distinctions of his human and his demon side. Angel is disturbed, but is befriended by the girl that Cordelia saw in her vision, Fred. Cordelia was made Queen of Pylea - but with a price. They want to kill Cordelia eventually after giving the visions to a "vassal" of the Religious Order of Pylea. Angel Investigations fights the Religious Order and defeats them. In order for this to occur, Angel defeats the Grusalug, the most fierce warrior in Pylea.

After winning and freeing the humans of Pylea, the gang returns to Los Angeles with a mission well accomplished. Willow is waiting for Angel to tell him that Buffy had died in Sunnydale.
