| The fourth season of Angel is known by many as the darkest season in the duration of the series. Angel's son Connor is added to the series credits along with Lorne later being added to the credit listings. This season picks up 3 months after the disappearance of Angel and Cordelia.
Fred, Gunn, and Connor are running Angel Investigations while trying to find out where their friends vanished to. Lorne took a leave for a job opportunity in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wesley, on the other hand, is getting deeper involved with Lilah while running a squad of rogue hunters to rid the city of evil.
Angel is still stuck at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean deprived of blood and having nightmares after three long months of being stuck in the ocean. Wesley is secretly trying to find Angel without telling anybody at Angel Investigations what he has been doing. Eventually, Wesley uses Justine to find Angel and then revives him from the bottom of the ocean deep. When Wesley mysteriously brings Angel back to the Hyperion Hotel, the gang is shocked that he would help the one who cast him out of the detective group. Connor is shocked to see his father back. Angel throws Connor in to a corner to give him a "daddy to son talk." Angel demands Connor to get out after he tells Connor that he will always love him regardless.
After the reunion with Angel, the gang now wants to discover the whereabouts of Cordelia. Cordelia is still watching them all on the higher plane. First, Angel Investigations goes in search to bring Lorne back to the Hyperion from Las Vegas. After a brutal fight with demons in Las Vegas, team Angel retrieves Lorne and bring him back to the Hotel. To their amazement, there is Cordelia standing there in front of them with no memory of who she is.
After trying a memory spell, and a little mishap, they all get their memories back. Everything is seemingly back to normal. In Angel's world, nothing is ever normal for long. Angel Investigations is soon plagued by apocalyptic images such as a rain of fire and blotting out the sun from a creature merely known as The Beast. The Beast proves to be stronger than anybody at Angel Investigations. The Beast single-handedly got the sun blotted out and had the sky rain fire.
While all of these events are going on, Cordelia develops a relationship with Connor, Angel's son. She is drawn close to Connor since he was the only one that did not lie about his identity when Cordelia had no memory of herself. As the rain of fire comes down, Connor and Cordelia have a night of passion thinking the world was coming to an end. To their dismay, the world did not end at all. Their other dismay is that Angel watched his own son have sex with the one he loved.
Soon after, Angel demands that Cordelia leave the hotel along with her "new boyfriend." As one relationship is destroyed after the other, Fred and Gunn suffer the same fate. Fred and Gunn's long relationship is ended midway through the series.
As The Beast grows stronger by destroying all the staff at Wolfram & Hart leaving only Lilah Morgan as the survivor, team Angel is desperate to find out who his boss is. Cordelia receives visions that Angelus knows who The Beast is. After much thought, Angel Investigations removes Angel's soul to bring back his demonic Angelus self. Angelus does not give much to go on. Angelus gets out of his cage soon and wants to destroy his "friends." The Beast's master keeps tabs on Angelus. After Angelus' encounter in the hotel, Cordelia kills Lilah telling her that she knew she was letting Angelus out.
Cordelia is revealed to be The Beast's master. She tried to devise the plan to keep them all under her control until Wesley brings Faith to town. Angelus wants to take Faith on his own so he kills The Beast with his own body. Angelus and Faith are ready to square off. They fight physically but fight harder in the form of dreams of Angel's good deeds. After bringing Willow to square off with Cordelia, Willow returns Angel's soul back to him.
Now that Angel has his soul back, they want to find out why Cordelia is pregnant so fast and who The Beast's master is. After a crafty plan, team Angel catch Cordelia in the act. Now that Cordelia has been found out, they want to find out why she is doing this. The one inside Cordelia has been a higher being but not herself. Connor thinks they are trying to kill her so he rescues her. Connor helps Cordelia prepare birth for her baby. Even the memories of his mother Darla could not bring Connor to not give birth to Cordelia's baby. Angel tries to kill Cordelia but it is too late. Cordelia gives birth to a fully live human being. Everybody becomes so happy!
At the sight of Jasmine, everybody becomes sappy love slaves of her. Cordelia remains in a coma throughout the rest of the series. Jasmine prepares her plans with the help of virtually everybody to bring her love on Earth. Love does not strike Fred for long when her blood mixes with Jasmine's. Fred sees that Jasmine is nothing more than a fake with maggots coming from her face. Fred is all alone now.
After so long, the others are affected by the blood of Cordelia, which has the same power as Jasmine's. Team Angel is back together to stop her. Connor stands true on the side of Jasmine regardless. Connor, soon, becomes distressed that Jasmine would not reveal where Cordelia is and goes out on search for her. Jasmine retains her energy by eating people. She soon grows strong enough to see through the people she has enslaved.
Angel Investigations soon finds a way to get to the dimension of Jasmine. Angel goes there alone. He finds and kills the one who has the "name" of Jasmine which would break her spell over people. Angel returns and reveals the name, which breaks her hold over people. Chaos ensues all over town.
Jasmine and Angel square off in a bloody battle. Jasmine signals Connor to return, which he does. Instead of fighting Jasmine, Connor murders Jasmine immediately. Connor is disturbed and a wreck. Angel and the gang come back to the hotel only to see the ghost of Lilah who is handing the keys of Wolfram & Hart.
The team is wary that their enemy is handing them everything in surrender. After deliberation, they accept the keys of the evil law firm. They are now the new bosses of the evil firm. Angel and Lilah agree to their terms. Angel now finds his son, defeats him and erases his memories. Connor is given a new family with a brand new memory. Nobody remembers who Connor ever was. | |
