| The fifth season of Angel picks up where the end of season four left off. Team Angel is now in charge of the law offices of Wolfram & Hart. Cordelia and Connor have been removed from the opening credits. Spike and Harmony (toward the end) are added to the credits of the series.
Angel and the gang are getting used to running a multi-dimensional evil law firm. Angel is the C.E.O of Wolfram & Hart. Wesley is in charge of all things mysterious. Fred is in charge of the science division. Lorne is in charge of the entertainment division. Gunn receives a brain upgrade with the law to further his importance as a lawyer of Wolfram & Hart. The gang wants to bring good to the law firm and use it as a resource to help people. The question is can such evil be made good?
Angel gets an unexpected visitor when he receives a package with an amulet in it. When the amulet drops out, Spike pops out of the amulet right there in Angel's office. They gang does not know how Spike got to Los Angeles. Spike is a ghost but not just any ghost, he is not invisible. Fred works desperately to try to save Spike. Spike proves his loyalty to good after Angel had given Spike such a bad reputation to the group. Spike chooses to kill off a necromancer instead of taking the chance of killing Angel altogether.
After so much adjusting to the law firm, the guide from the Senior Partners, Eve, shows her creepy persona toward the team. They believe she has it in to destroy Angel but she asserts she only knows what the Senior Partners tell her. After a while, Angel and Spike fight for an object known as the Cup of Perpetual Torment. A worker in the law firm known as Sirk leads them on this wild goose chase to become human. They are lead to Las Vegas. Both have a show down. Spike is the eventual winner defeating Angel and drinks from the cup. It's Mountain Dew. It was all a fake but Angel is wounded both physically and mentally. He admits that he lost sight of just how bad he wants to be human, which allowed Spike to beat him in his determination to be human.
The one behind such a ludicrous attempt to put Angel out of commission is revealed to be Lindsey MacDonald. Lindsey quit Wolfram & Hart in season two after they (in his eyes) went too far in the evil they did. Lindsey has it out to destroy Angel and the law firm. Also Wolfram & Hart's own Eve is the girlfriend of Lindsey. Lindsey wants to use Spike as the new champion role to bring down Angel | |
