| Show FAQ | Why did the series end at season five?
The season ended when the WB network(Now the CW network) decided to end the series shortly after Valentines Day in 2004. It was not expected to occur since the series had an increase in ratings after season four.
| Why was Spike added to the cast for the last season?
Angel's sister show Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended its regular run in 2003. With that series concluded, Joss Whedon brought James Marsters over to fill the role Cordelia left.
| Why did Charisma Carpenter leave the series after season four?
Rumors suggest a disagreement with Joss over her real pregnancy that he had to write it in to the season somehow. There are no definite answers even though the logical one is that she wanted to raise her son. She came back for the 100th episode so there must not have been any hard feelings at all.
| Why did Doyle leave the series?
Joss Whedon wanted to kill off a series regular early on. There is no concrete evidence on this but the notion was that anyone can die at any time. There were rumors that he wanted to revive the Doyle character later on.
