Michael is passed over by George Sr. for partner at The Bluth Co. so he decides to move to Arizona to spend more time with his son, George Michael. However, after George Sr. is arrested for bad accounting and the family's funds are frozen, Michael instead decides to stay in California to help put his family back together and keep them that way.

Meanwhile, Tobias auditions for a role in a commercial, but Lindsay inadvertently gets the part instead of Tobias.

Wanting to spend time with his father, G.O.B. comes up with a half-baked plan to lock himself in the prison, spend 24 hours with his father, and then break out of the prison as a grand illusion. But when his plan doesn't work out as intended, G.O.B has to come up with another exit plan. Meanwhile, with G.O.B. in prison, Michael agrees be Marta's date to a Latin American television awards show. There, Buster, who isn't wearing his glasses, inadvertenly flirts with mother's #1 rival, Lucille Austero.

Lindsay and Michael try to one-up each other in charitableness. Lindsay participates in a Save The Wetlands charity drive while Michael tries to do a good deed by driving his mother's maid, Lupe, home, but soon realizes he has the wrong woman. Meanwhile, Buster, after his inadvertent flirting, tries his best to avoid Lucille and G.O.B. demands respect from George Michael.

Elsewhere, George Michael plans on impressing Maeby with the muscle suit for the "Living Classics" pageant, but the thought of having a cod piece worries George Michael. Also, the "truth" about Tobias' cutoffs is finally exposed.

Meanwhile, Lindsay forces Maeby to spend a day with Lucille when she receives poor grades at school.

Michael brings Maeby to work with him for "Take My Daughter to Work Day" and they soon discover that Kitty has gone missing and Michael is the main suspect. Despite Michael's mission to teach Maeby right from wrong, he tells the police that he knows nothing about Kitty's disappearance.
