Wanting to spend time with his father, G.O.B. comes up with a half-baked plan to lock himself in the prison, spend 24 hours with his father, and then break out of the prison as a grand illusion. But when his plan doesn't work out as intended, G.O.B has to come up with another exit plan. Meanwhile, with G.O.B. in prison, Michael agrees be Marta's date to a Latin American television awards show. There, Buster, who isn't wearing his glasses, inadvertenly flirts with mother's #1 rival, Lucille Austero.
David Cross (Tobias) does not appear in this episode.
On The Next Arrested Development Gag: G.O.B. learns how he survived his stabbing, and Buster makes a bold move.
This episode marks the first appearance of Liza Minnelli (Lucille Austero) as well as the infamous staircar.
This is the last time Leonor Varela plays Marta. In subsequent episodes featuring Marta, she is played by Patricia Velasquez.

White Power Bill: (as he's stabbing G.O.B.) White power!
Buster: That's what you do when life hands you a chance to be with someone special. You just grab that brownish area by its points and you don't let go no matter what your mom says.
Lucille: (about Buster's new girlfriend) He doesn't even know what she looks like.
Buster: I know she's a brownish area...with points. And I know I love her!
Lucille: I'm calling Dr. Miller.
Lucille: I'll be in the hospital bar.
Michael: Uh, you know there isn't a hospital bar, Mother.
Lucille: Well, this is why people hate hospitals.
Lindsay: You know, we're not the only ones destroying trees. What about beavers? You call yourself an environmentalist, why don't you go club a few beavers?
Lindsay: I've always been very passionate about nature. Perhaps you remember Neuterfest?
Michael: Oh, I'll never forget your wedding.

Wadsworth Theatre, where the Desi Awards are held, is a real location that is actually on the grounds of the Veteran’s Administration in Los Angeles.
Lucille: The waiter hands him a note and suddenly he's Steve McQueen.
Steve McQueen is an actor nicknamed "The King of Cool". Steve starred in several movies including The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape.
