Scott Baio, who guest stars as Bob Loblaw, is the third Happy Days star to guest star on Arrested Development. On Happy Days, Scott Baio played Chachi.

Lindsay: Yes, and you were almost arrested for those business cards.

When George Sr. is eating an ice cream sandwich, the scene cuts to Larry. After the scene returns to George Sr., he doesn't have the ice cream sandwich and a laptop is in front of him.

When Buster is about to throw his medal away we see him taking it off, then we cut to him walking towards the balcony and once there we see him again taking the medal off.

This refers to the episode "Pier Pressure", in which George Michael asked Gob to get some pot for him.

The banner was first seen in "Amigos" as a “You’re killing me, Buster” banner. For this episode, a "dd" is taped over the "ll".

Rita covers up part of the bench so it reads "Wee Brain", much like Buster covering up letters on a bench in "Out On A Limb".

Steve Holt's line is G.O.B. catchphrase first used in "Key Decisions".

In the beginning of the episode, the mysterious British man drops of Rita off to see Michael and before Rita leaves the man mysteriously says "Don't forget your Hat" and throws it to Rita, this is the first subliminal setup for viewers to question Rita's motives towards Michael, the subliminal setup furthermore continues when Michael asks the surrogate if they ever met before and his father says through him that he hired this guy to be his eyes and ears while he's stuck in his house under house arrest, they slowly zoom in on the hat of the surrogate Larry where a camera is located subliminally linking a hat to a camera.
The setup is for the ending of the episode where Michael Tells Rita everything about the case and his family and the camera zooms in on her hat giving viewers the impression that her hat has a camera in it. giving viewers the illusion that she is there to spy on him.
