Michael is passed over by George Sr. for partner at The Bluth Co. so he decides to move to Arizona to spend more time with his son, George Michael. However, after George Sr. is arrested for bad accounting and the family's funds are frozen, Michael instead decides to stay in California to help put his family back together and keep them that way.
Wanting to teach his son about responsibility, Michael puts George Michael in charge of the Bluth Frozen Banana Stand. However, George Michael decides to burn down the banana stand, which results in horrible financial consequences for the Bluth family. Meanwhile, Tobias auditions for a role in a commercial, but Lindsay inadvertently gets the part instead of Tobias.
Wanting to get to know his brother better, Michael decides to spend some time with Buster. Meanwhile, George Michael tries out for the school play to get closer to Maeby and G.O.B breaks up with Marta, but finds himself with no where to go.
Wanting to spend time with his father, G.O.B. comes up with a half-baked plan to lock himself in the prison, spend 24 hours with his father, and then break out of the prison as a grand illusion. But when his plan doesn't work out as intended, G.O.B has to come up with another exit plan. Meanwhile, with G.O.B. in prison, Michael agrees be Marta's date to a Latin American television awards show. There, Buster, who isn't wearing his glasses, inadvertenly flirts with mother's #1 rival, Lucille Austero.
Lindsay and Michael try to one-up each other in charitableness. Lindsay participates in a Save The Wetlands charity drive while Michael tries to do a good deed by driving his mother's maid, Lupe, home, but soon realizes he has the wrong woman. Meanwhile, Buster, after his inadvertent flirting, tries his best to avoid Lucille and G.O.B. demands respect from George Michael.
Michael is able to arrange a conjugal visit for his parents, George Sr. and Lucille, but George Sr.'s affair with his secretary, who recently had an affair with G.O.B., is exposed to the family. Meanwhile, Lindsay and Tobias decide to go to a marriage counselor.
Lucille tries to pit Michael and Lindsay against each other, but when Michael and Lindsay figure out Lucille's true intentions, they team up to get even with her. Meanwhile, Michael tries to fire the family attorney, Barry Zuckercorn, but his attempts come up fruitless. Elsewhere, George Michael plans on impressing Maeby with the muscle suit for the "Living Classics" pageant, but the thought of having a cod piece worries George Michael. Also, the "truth" about Tobias' cutoffs is finally exposed.
Michael loses his short term memory in a car accident and Lucille uses his memory loss to her advantage. Meanwhile, George Michael and Maeby sneak into an R-rated movie, which happens to be about cousins having an affair, and Buster and Lucille Austero begin to take their relationship to the next level.
Despite Michael's feelings for Marta, he can't bring himself to break up G.O.B. and Marta. As G.O.B. tries to resurrect his career as an illusionist, George, Sr. finds religion while in prison. Meanwhile, Lucille confronts Buster about his relationship with Lucille 2.
George Michael becomes upset when he gets an A- on a test, which leads Lindsay to tell Michael that he's pushing his son too hard. Buster begins to think that Lucille 2 should use medical marijuana to help her vertigo and goes to George Michael to help him track some down. However, Buster's plan soon goes up in smoke. Meanwhile, Lindsay forces Maeby to spend a day with Lucille when she receives poor grades at school.
Trying to help change the Bluth family reputation, Michael hires a publicist that he met at his gym. Meanwhile, Tobias heads east to Boston in order to get his medical license.
Lucille throws Tobias and Lindsay an anniversary bash on Valentine's Day, inspiring Michael to give a passionate speech about love. Upon hearing his speech, Marta realizes her true feelings for Michael, and Lindsay realizes that she wants a divorce. Meanwhile, Lucille is forced to deal with living alone for the first time in her life when Buster decides to move out of the penthouse.
Marta admits her true feelings to Michael, but before they start building their relationship, they decide that they should get permission from G.O.B. Elsewhere, Lindsay and Tobias find the source of Tobias' "never-nudism" and George, Sr. attends his first hearing.
Both Michael and George Michael end up falling for George Michael's ethics teacher, and ethical questions arise when Michael begins to date her. Lucille adopts a teenaged Korean boy named Annyong (which translates as "hello" in English) Bluth. Meanwhile, G.O.B. tries to get even with Michael but sleeps with the wrong woman and a "Caged Wisdom" admirer visits George Sr. in prison.
Michael discovers that each of the Bluths are getting monthly paychecks which makes Michael put his family members to work at a construction site in order for them to earn their pay. However, the Bluth Company workers, lost without Michael, all end up on a bus headed to Lupe's family reunion. Meanwhile, Tobias heads off to prison to do research for an upcoming role.
Michael meets a blind attorney, Maggie, and ends up having a one-night stand with her. All seems well until Michael discovers that Maggie is the prosecutor assigned to George, Sr.'s case, forcing Michael to decide whether to tell Maggie the truth about who he is or use this opportunity to gain the upper hand in the case. Meanwhile, G.O.B., on a dare, gets married, and an undercover SEC agent falls in love with George, Sr.
Maggie inadvertently gives Michael his father's case file and Michael has to decide whether to read it and use the information to get his father out of prison or tell Maggie the truth about who he is and continue their relationship. However, a wrench is thrown in Michael's plan when G.O.B. steals the case file and asks Tobias to break into Maggie's house to find evidence. Meanwhile, Lindsay fights to get the Ten Commandments removed from the lawn of the courthouse.
While G.O.B. tries to make good on a promise by making the family's yacht disappear, Michael attempts to fire Kitty. Meanwhile, Lindsay and Maeby work together to find Lindsay's grandmother.
At G.O.B.'s post-marital bachelor party, George, Sr. tries to get blackmail material out of his accountant. Later, G.O.B. learns that Wife of G.O.B. is in love with Tobias. Meanwhile, Tobias tries to but back together the Dr. Fünke’s 100% Natural Good-Time Family-Band Solution folk band and Michael sets out to prove to his family that he can be fun.
Michael confronts Lucille about being too over-protective of Buster while he tries to deal with the numerous requests he's gotten for the newly unfrozen money. Meanwhile, Lindsay protests the war and Tobias and G.O.B. become business partners when they decide to open a coffee company together.
Michael brings Maeby to work with him for "Take My Daughter to Work Day" and they soon discover that Kitty has gone missing and Michael is the main suspect. Despite Michael's mission to teach Maeby right from wrong, he tells the police that he knows nothing about Kitty's disappearance. Elsewhere, Lindsay and Tobias both get jobs -- Lindsay at a department store and Tobias becomes a security guard -- and Buster gets a chance to be on a soccer team.
The Bluths find out that George, Sr. has had a heart attack and head up to the hospital to see him. However, when they arrive at the hospital they find that George, Sr. is en route for Mexico with Kitty in the staircar. Meanwhile, Lindsay decides it's finally time to leave Tobias … that is until a book he wrote becomes a gay bestseller. Elsewhere, Buster and Annyong fight over women.
George, Sr. is finally apprehended by authorities, but the police soon discover they had mistaken Oscar for his twin brother, George, Sr. With the real George, Sr. still at large, Michael becomes the next in line to be prosecuted within the Bluth Company for the crimes his father committed. Michael scrambles to find the money to keep himself out of jail only to find that the rest of his family are doing fine without him -- Lindsay and Tobias fixed their relationship by agreeing to have an open relationship, G.O.B. is at the helm of the Bluth Company, and Lucille asked Oscar to move in with her to be a role model for Buster.
As Michael's legal troubles continue, G.O.B. agrees to be the head of the company until Michael is in the clear. While Michael is pulling the strings in background, as G.O.B. and Michael planned, he begins to go crazy when G.O.B.'s ridiculous ideas impress the board. Meanwhile, the identity mishaps between George, Sr. and Oscar continue when George, Sr. is arrested in Mexico for a crime that Oscar committed, and Oscar takes George, Sr.'s place in a way that no one saw coming.
Michael plans a family trip to Mexico to get back the staircar. G.O.B., suspicious of Michael's behavior, hires a bounty hunter to follow his every move. But when Michael learns about the bounty hunter, he hires the bounty hunter to track down his father. Meanwhile, Buster mistakenly thinks he's in Mexico after spending some time with Lupe and her family.
The bounty hunter hired in the previous episodes tells the family that George, Sr. is dead. The news hits the family hard, prompting Michael to spend more time with his son, G.O.B. tries a new allusion, and Maeby tries to set her mother up with the bounty hunter. However, George, Sr. is closer to the family then they all think.
Despite Wayne Jarvis' strong suggestion to turn George, Sr. in, Michael decides to keep his father hidden until he can come up with a plan as to how to fix the situation. But when George, Sr. confesses that the only reason he came back was to win back his wife, Michael begins to worry that her new relationship with Oscar will be revealed. Meanwhile, Tobias takes up a new hobby, working out, and Lindsay tries to get to know Steve Holt better.
As a prank, someone throws the banana stand into the nearby bay, forcing Michael to rebuild it. Meanwhile, G.O.B., as acting president of the Bluth Company, prepares for the annual Christmas party, but things take a turn when G.O.B. fires everyone when they use him as a topic for their roast. In turn, Michael is forced to throw another party to win the employees back and decides to double the re-opening of the new banana stand with the party. Meanwhile, Buster ditches the Army for a day and spends his time at an arcade.
The president of the Bluth Company's rival, Sitwell, hires G.O.B. in order to win a softball game against the Bluth Company prompting Michael to ask G.O.B. to throw the game. G.O.B. considers it, but when he finds his new boss fatherly and kind, G.O.B. begins to rethink things. Meanwhile, Lindsay suffers bizarre side effects after taking anti-depressants.
Michael finds out the Bluth Company stock has been unfrozen so he sells a few shares to buy a car. However, the rest of the family, despite several warnings not to, sells their stock which causes the Bluth family to lose control of the company. Meanwhile, Lucille 2 returns and is crushed to find that Buster is dating a secretary.
Michael tries to get back together with Sall Sitwell, a woman he used to have a crush on, but Lucille and George, Sr. constantly get in the way of him doing so. Meanwhile, G.O.B. falls for Lucille 2 and Lucille begins to stress out when she thinks that since Buster has a girlfriend, no one will bid on her at the Bachelorette Auction.
The Bluths think that Lucille 2 is making a deal to sell the company so in order to save it, George, Sr. calls Uncle Jack, a family friend, for help. But Uncle Jack will only help the family if he's promised a date with Lindsay, leading Michael to try to distract Tobias away from the situation. Meanwhile, G.O.B. and Buster try find out what Lucille 2 is up to but end up fighting over her.
Michael bumps into his ex-girlfriend, Maggie Lizer, and is shocked to find out that she's pregnant. Michael soon begins to think that he's the father, which threatens his relationship with Sally. Meanwhile, Buster learns he's being deployed to Iraq and George Michael has a hard time breaking up with his girlfriend.
Buster loses his hand when a seal bites it off and is forced to have a hook for a hand. Meanwhile, Michael tries to find the truth behind the paternity of Maggie's baby.
Lucille takes George Michael to the mother-son dance instead of Buster, her typical date. Seeing this, Buster and Michael team up to save George Michael from Lucille, but things don't go as planned. Meanwhile, Tobias lands a role similar in nature to George, Sr., which turns Lindsay on.
George Michael runs for school president. All goes well until Michael gets involved in his son's campaign. Michael asks G.O.B. to help, but G.O.B. sinks George Michael's campaign when he makes an offensive campaign video. Meanwhile, Tobias moves out and Buster sleeps with Lupe.
G.O.B. takes advantage of Buster's fake hand in his magic shows leading Tony Wonder to mentor G.O.B. Meanwhile, Michael is hospitalized and Lindsay teaches George Michael how to drive the staircar.
George Michael gives Ann a promise ring, which worries Michael that their relationship is progressing too fast. Michael decides to talk to Ann's parents, but his talk with them doesn't go as well as planned. Meanwhile, G.O.B. and George, Sr. team up to get Lucille away from Oscar.
It's once again Spring Break and G.O.B. gets the opportunity to confront Phillip Litt, the magician who used G.O.B.'s magic trick mistakes on the "Girls with Low Self-Esteem" video. Meanwhile, Michael tricks Lucille into going to rehab by telling her it's a spa, but is forced to go back to Lucille for help when Kitty kidnaps George, Sr. and uses him to blackmail the Bluth family.
An inspector comes to the model home to check the plumbing, forcing George, Sr. to leave the attic to avoid being discovered. G.O.B. offers to help his father, but ends up doing more harm than good. Meanwhile, Ann and George Michael boycott "Dangerous Liaisons", but inadvertently make it more successful, and Tobias and Kitty begin to hit it off.
Michael is back at the helm of the company and since all things seem to be going smoothly, he decides to take George Michael to the family cabin. But things take a bad turn when Michael decides to track down his father which leads him to Reno. Meanwhile, Lindsay, as well George Michael and Maeby (who are still dealing with their kiss), head out to find Tobias; G.O.B. attends an event that reunites abandoned sons with their father; and Lucille regresses back to her old self while dealing with Buster.
George, Sr. claims that he was framed by a British group despite being urged to plead guilty. Michael travels across town to Wee Britain to look into his father's claim where he meets Rita, a beautiful British woman who Michael soon asks out. Meanwhile, Lindsay seduces the new attorney, but is charged for her time; and G.O.B. spends all of his time doing his magic in order to avoid spending time with his son.
Michael, worried about what Rita would think of him, lies and tells her he has no family. However, the truth eventually comes out when Rita is invited to a family function, leading to bad results. Meanwhile, Lindsay is hired as a nanny for the new attorney; George, Sr. once again attempts an escape; and Tobias coaches Buster to help him overcome his self-confidence issues.
When Rita calls Michael by a nickname he thinks means "weak", Michael tries to talk George Michael into going with him to various "manly" activities. However, George Michael opts to help Ann get ready for her Inner-Beauty Pageant so Michael signs up for a triathlon with Steve Holt. Meanwhile, George, Sr. volunteers with the Startled Straight program, but scares the wrong group.
Michael scrambles to salvage a real estate deal when a mole problem arises. He receives help from G.O.B., Buster, and Larry, but the plan ends up not working at all. Meanwhile, Tobias thinks a CIA agent is a CAA agent, causing him to inadvertently betray his family and Michael makes Rita a tempting offer.
Michael announces to his family that he is going to marry Rita, making George, Sr. think that Rita is only after the company's money. As Rita's Uncle Trevor reveals some surprising information to stop the wedding, Michael debates whether or not he wants to go through with the wedding.
Crushed over his breakup with Rita, Michael tries to reach out to his mother but soon discovers that she's dating the Warden. Michael finally decides to tell his father about his mother's infidelity, but George, Sr. has an undercover plan of his own. Meanwhile, Buster's pet turtle gets into Oscar's secret box of weed and the Bluth family come together to plan a benefit for Tobias' life-threatening hair transplant.
G.O.B. begins to be a nuisance at work so Michael puts him in charge of his own banana stand to keep him away from the Bluth Company. However, Michael finds out that his father is using G.O.B. against him who leads to a confrontation between G.O.B. and Michael that results in G.O.B. and Michael teaming up against their father. Meanwhile, Lucille gets a face-lift and Tobias and Lindsay fight for attention from Bob Loblaw.
Worried about his family's future, George, Sr. insists upon a fundraiser to raise community awareness. Michael is put in charge of finding a celebrity to serve as emcee for the event and ends up tracking down Andy Richter. Meanwhile, G.O.B. accidentally becomes a waiter and has to deal with a rude customer -- his mother.
George, Sr. hires a new attorney and has his family participate in a fake trial, presided by Judge Reinhold, in preparation for the real thing. Meanwhile, Buster fakes being in a coma to get out of testifying and George Michael and Maeby are mock-wed to entertain hospital patients. Elsewhere, Michael begins to figure out the identity of N. Bluth.
Michael hires a woman who might be his sister and the services she provides are just what the company needs but not the services that Michael expected. Meanwhile, Buster's fake coma grabs the attention of a local politician.
Michael and Buster travel to Iraq to rescue G.O.B. who had been imprisoned while on a USO tour. There they encounter a WMD -- web of mass deception -- that involves the Bluth family. Back in the states, George Michael plans a Sweet 16 birthday surprise party for Maeby.
All the charges against the company are dropped, leading Michael to have to deal with a new style of dysfunction as he prepares to become CEO of the Bluth Company.
