Rose asks Lily to help her throw a birthday/Christmas party for Lucinda, but she refuses. Lucinda calls Lily, hoping they will spend Christmas together, but Lily hangs up on her. Later, Lily tries to work things out with Lucinda, who won't budge on the issue of Simon. Mother and daughter decide to bury the hatchet, at least until after the holidays. Joe confides in Nancy that he has a letter that could change Rose's life. He admits he wants to burn it, but decides to show it to Rose after all. It's a letter from Caroline Carpenter, Rose's grandmother, along with legal papers, which convince Rose that she has a case against Lily and Lucinda. Joe tells Rose to reconsider taking on her new family, but she insists she wants what is rightfully hers. Lily comes by and tells Rose she made up with Lucinda and will help with the party after all. Rose hangs on to the letter. Bryant surprises Jennifer by coming on to her very strongly. She tells him if he's looking for sex, he should go to Ruby - who she just saw him kiss. Bryant tells her the kiss was a means to get his hands on the bracelet. Jennifer is appalled he stole money to pay for the bracelet. Jennifer makes arrangements to have a jeweler look at the bracelet and Bryant anticipates a happy ending. Meanwhile, Ruby is smug about conning Bryant!
