Lucinda visits Simon at work and tries to bribe him to leave Oakdale right away and never look back. Simon denies interfering in Lily's life, and lets Lucinda know he plans to stick around for a while. Lucinda tells Simon he'll never have Lily, but Simon won't leave town unless he knows where he stands with her. Lucinda departs, but takes note of a veiled comment Simon made about immigration. Joe meets with Rose for dinner. Rose has plenty of questions about the diamond and its background. She's excited when Joe reveals there was a letter from Caroline Carpenter, which accompanied the box the diamond came in. When Rose demands to see it, Joe is wary and warns Rose about messing with Lucinda. Nancy joins them, and the threesome share a few laughs. Joe looks forward to a new beginning with Rose, but all Rose wants is the letter - and what's coming to her. Holden walks in on Lily, who is clad only in a towel. Holden and Lily are awkward, but admit how much they've missed each other. They give in to their passion and finally make love. In the afterglow, Lily is upset that Holden thinks this has solved all their problems. She tells him that she isn't ready for him to move back in and return to the way things were before. A frustrated Holden slams his fist through the wall. Lily convinces Holden that they shouldn't rush into anything. She invites him to attend Craig's masquerade ball with her, and he agrees. Later, Lily tries to shake off the memory of Simon touching her.
