Aang goes to search for Appa while Katara struggles to keep everyone together, in hopes they can get out of the desert alive. Zuko and Iroh, meanwhile, seek help from an ancient society.

Episode Notes

Appa is not found at the end of the episode; one of the sandbenders says that he was traded away.

Aang accuses Toph of letting Appa be taken on purpose because "she never liked him". This is the second time Aang has yelled at Toph because of Appa, the first time being in The Chase.

This is the second time in this season Aang has gone into the Avatar State. The first time being in The Avatar State.

This episode originally aired as the second part of a two part special called "The Fury of Aang".
