| Sokka states that the eclipse will only be 8 minutes long. | Unlike the two previous chapters, Aang is not wearing his chest bandages in this episode, implying that he no longer needs them. He does, however, still have the mark on his back. | Aang mentions that he is friends with the panda spirit Hai-Bei. Hai-Bei has appeared in the previous episodes "The Winter Solstice (1): The Spirit World" and "The Seige of the North (2)". | Katara is revealed to be the painted lady. However, at the end of the episode a real spirit who appears to be the painted lady shows up and thanks Katara. So there is actually a painted lady. |

| Katara: I will never turn my back on people who need me! | Sokka: What did you do?!
Katara: I kind of destroyed their factory. | Katara: I thought you didn’t want to help.
Sokka: You need me, and I will never turn my back on you. |

| When Aang first chases the painted lady the moon is in a crescent shape. When he finally catches her it seems to be a full moon. |

| Poltergeist
When Katara shows up as the painted lady the young boy who she gave food to earlier in the episode creepily says "She's here." This is much like the movie Poltergeist when the young daughter says "They're here" in a similar creepy fashion. | Marco Polo
When Aang continuously comes up out of the water, says "Momo!", then dives down again is a reference to the common pool game "Marco Polo", played in a similar fashion. |
