On the advice of a drivethru loudspeaker, Michael checks out the last case that he handled before the accident. Although the investigation turns up nothing, Michael becomes involved with the death of a construction worker whose body turns up entombed in cement. In the other reality, Michael and Bird work a case involving a young girl who had sex with a lab partner and then apparently killed herself.
Hannah: Michael... you know, you don’t even have to deal with any of this. I can handle it.
Michael: Yeah, because you can do the plumbing, right? And all the deck repair?
Hannah: No, I’m gonna hire a heavyset men with an exposed butt crack. I’m gonna watch him do it.
Michael: Let me get this straight. You're handing us a three-year-old homicide?
Detective Banks: Handing you a miracle. Hello? I melted him out of concrete!
Vega: Anything else?
Detective Banks: Ingrates.
Ally Ferris: You're his boss?
Captain Tricia Harper: You know what? I am everybody's boss around here.
Ally Ferris: That's cool.
Captain Tricia Harper: Yeah. Sometimes even I can't believe how cool it is.
Dr. Lee: Are you familiar with the word "pentimento"?
Michael: Pentimento? Does it go in a sandwich?
