This is the first time that I can remember a canceled show having a conclusion. On one hand I'm sad that it's ending but at least we had answers ( somewhat) and a nice tidy ending. Great finale, thank you writers!

I had the opposite reaction. I was greatly disappointed in the usual Hollywood happy ending. If the writers had any guts, the final scene would have started with a closeup of his face that slowly pulls back to see him in a straight-jacket or padded cell where he has gone insane because he lost both his wife and son.

Of course, the fact that he's so demented that he's imagining a life where two dead family members are still alive to him isn't exactly a happy ending...

Keep in mind this episode was written and filmed before they knew it would be a season finale. They always intended to move beyond the end o the episode.
