Recap

At an abandoned air-hangar, 3 thugs are watching the news as they count their ransom money that was given to them in order to save the life of Bunny Vreeland. The news is talking about how Bruce Wayne had overcome an attempt by Derek Powers to take over his company.
Then, outside, Batman shows up in a new costume that was never seen in animation before. He takes out one of the goons outside by punching him, and then he uses his jet boots to fly up onto the roof. After he gets onto the roof, he crashes down onto the goons and takes him down, but as he is going this he has a heart attack and he ends up loosing a fight. The goon sees this and he grabs a wrench and starts beating Batman till he can’t get up. Batman knows that he isn’t going to be able to fight his way out of this, so he picks up a gun that is in front of him and he holds it up to one of the kidnapers. The kidnaper runs out of the hangar and is stopped by the cops. Batman walks out of the hangar and he takes off his mask.
At the bat-cave, Bruce Wayne has the costume in a display case and is standing above a fleet of steps. He shuts a switch off and says “Never Again.”..

Episode Notes
This episode and the second part are both known as "Batman Beyond: The Movie."

Kevin Conroy reprises his role as Bruce Wayne from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Gotham Knights, and Superman The Animated Series.

Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were given a green light right when they pitched the idea without any test footage.

Batman Tomorrow was to be the original title for the series, but for promotional reasons, the title was changed to Batman Beyond.

Bunny Vreeland is the daughter of Veronica Vreeland.

Tomorrow Knight and B-2 were possible names for Batman Beyond.

Bruce Timm says that Batman Beyond is set 50 years into the future.

When the Wayne-Power's Building is first shown, the gold building to the left is adorned with the Chinese character . It is read as 'e' or 'wu' (the Japanese say it as 'o' or 'aku') and can mean evil or hate.

Episode Quotes
Terry: I yelled at him mom. He grounded me and I wouldn't listen. The things I said... I'm such a jerk.

Terry: (To Nelson) You remind me of a Joker I met this morning... except he was prettier!

Thug: All my life the big, bad Batman was beating down guys like me.

Terry: You're Batman.
Bruce: I was Batman.

Warren McGinness: (to Terry) That's your problem right there! You can't control your temper.

Dana: (to Chelsea) If the coach had us do one more lap... I'd be sprouting gills.

Dana: I thought you were in solitary...
Terry: I gave myself time off for good behavior.
Dana: I'm glad.

(About Ace)
Terry: Nice dog.
Bruce: Not really.

Episode Goofs
When Dana dropped Terry off at Bruce Wayne's mansion she was driving a convertible with the top down even though it was thunder and lighting and clearly about to start raining.

Analysis
Batman's reaction upon holding a gun to a thug is because he vowed never to use a gun to fight crime. His realization that he needed the weapon to overcome his adversary is doubtless part of the reason why he hung up the cape.
