Batman Beyond: Meltdown

Derek Powers wants a new body - the synthetic skin that gives him a normal appearance fails more quickly with each application. He and Dr. Lake need a test subject so they go to Mr. Freeze, for fifty years just a disembodied head. They clone Freeze and transfer his mind into the new body, and everything seems great until Freeze starts to find normal room temperatures increasingly hot, and realizes he's reverting back. After Dr. Lake tries to knock him out so she can vivisect him, he wants revenge. Batman is going to have to protect Derek Powers, one of Bruce's greatest enemies.

Episode Notes
This is the only appearance of Mr. Freeze in the series.

Powers uses the name Blight for the first time.

Mr. Freeze's design (until the end) did not change much from the Batman Gotham Knights style. The only thing that changed was the freeze suit.

Mr. Freeze "dies" at the end.

Episode Quotes
Mr. Freeze: I’ve been like this for over 50 years and I haven’t aged a day.

Terry: So, Dana, you got time for a fiz or something?
Dana: I do, but you don’t. (Points at Bruce.) Your keeper is here.

Bruce: I want you to keep an eye on him. Don’t let him out of your sight.
Terry: Why?
Bruce: I don’t trust him?
Terry: Powers or Fries?
Bruce: Neither.

Batman: (watches Mr. Freeze save a cat from getting run over by a train.) Yeah, there’s a menace to society.

Terry: (to Bruce) It’s like my mom said, he's just a guy trying put his house in order.
Bruce: It’s a cold draft that blows through that house.

Bruce: He’ll be back. He lives for revenge.
Terry: Not the Mr. Freeze I met.
Bruce: What you met was a ghost.

Dr. Lake: (to the scientists) Sometimes you find the wrong answers before you find the right ones. That’s what science is all about.

Doctor: (hands Blight blankets.) We also brought these, just in case you where cold.
Blight: You are… idiots.
