Batman Beyond: Heroes

While on a routine job, Batman runs into some new superheroes who call themselves the Terrific Trio. Together, these new heroes fight crime for the good of all man kind. Then, they learn something was wrong with their DNA, and when they were about to be killed by the government... they go after the man responsible for it all....

Recap

The episode begins with a group of high-tech thugs stealing from a technology building. As they fly away, Batman sees them, and shoots a grappling hook so that he can grab onto them. The guard then shoots at Batman, and he ends up flying into a bill-board. Batman then lets go of the grappling hook and glides around, and he gets tackled into a building by one of the thugs. Terry lies in pain as a woman who is Intangible walks right past him. She then flies up to one thug and touches his helmet. She then freezes him. Then, a giant magma monster throws a piece of a building at the thugs. He knocks them down as a man catches them in his giant rubber body. He then flings them both up in the air and he catches them in his hands. Then he sets them down and turns back into his normal size. The 3 heroes regroup as a crowd gathers around them. The police then show up to take the goons away. Batman then watches...

2-D man is the counterpart to Mr. Fantastic.

Freon is the counterpart to The Invisible Woman.

Magma is the counterpart to The Human Torch and The Thing.

The grappling hook that Terry uses is the same one that Batman used in Batman: Gotham Knights, Justice League Unlimited, and Superman.

Terry: (to Bruce) It looks like I’m going to have more time to do my homework now.
Bruce: We’ll see.

(the cops come in to shoot the goons. They see them lying on the floor, and they see the terrific trio there.)
Freon: Been there, done that.

Cop: (Magma destroys a police car.) Hey! That’s police property.
Cop II: You tell him!

Matt: Hey! Check it out, Magma underwear.
Terry: Shway.
Store person: Yeah, it’s great to have some clean, wholesome heroes that kids can look up to.
Matt: Eh, these guys are twips. Batman rips!
Terry: Y’think.
Matt: Big time.
Terry: How ‘bout an ice cream… my treat.
Matt: Sure… what’s the catch?

Batman: Uh, oh.
Bruce: What is it?
Batman: It ain’t Smokey the bear.

Batman: Satisfied?
Dr. Hodges: No, you don’t understand… they where my friends.
Batman: Right…



Episode Goofs
Why did Terry need to use a grappling hook to catch up with the thugs? He has a built in one in the arm of his suit, and he can use the suit to fly.

The Terrific Trio:

The Terrific Trio is a spoof of Marvel Comic's Fantastic Four.

Batman: It ain’t Smokey the bear.

This is a reference to Smokey the bear, a famous character that promotes forest fire prevention.

The Terrific Trio's origins are the same as the Fantastic Four.
