When a horrifying bat creature terrorizes Gotham City, the authorities conclude it must be Batman and put out an all-points bulletin on the Dark Knight. Meanwhile, Batman's investigation leads him to the laboratory of Kirk Langstrom, a prominent zoologist, who has been experimenting with a formula that turns him into the ManBat creature. Not only does Batman have to capture Man-Bat in order to save Langstrom, but also to set the police straight and clear his name.
This episode aired on a Sunday night in primetime.
Harvey Dent can be seen sitting in the dark flipping his two-headed coin. This is very ominous detail, since he will become a major villain in "Two-Face" with that particular feature.
The voice of Alfred is different and voiced by a different actor in this episode.
Batman: (reading headline) "Gotham police declare war on Batman."
Alfred: I gather you've been reading how to make friends and influence people.
Batman: Somebody's setting me up.
Alfred: My heavens! You mean it wasn't you tossing guards out of windows last night?
Batman: I only toss butlers, Alfred.
Dr. March: (to Bruce) You donate a few million and you think you own the place...
(Hears the screaming bats from Bruce's tape)
Alfred: I didn't realize you'd taken up listening to Rock 'n' Roll, sir.
Alfred: I'll cancel Master Bruce's rendezvous with. . . Bambi, was it, sir?
Batman: Yes, Alfred. Do that.
Commissioner: He can't be in two places at one time, you got the wrong suspect!
Bruce: (to Dr. March) Hey, what's up, Doc?
This alludes to the famous catchphrase of Bugs Bunny, the cartoon rabbit from the Looney Tunes series that - just like this show - belongs to the Warner Bros.
