Laura Roslin was the secretary of Education. Immediately after she was diagnosed with cancer, she visited the Galactica to take part in its becoming a museum. On her way home, the Cylons attacked. After every other member of the Colonial President's cabinet was killed, she became the president of the colonies. She pulled the civillian ships she could find together and joined with the Galactica on a course towards the mythical planet Earth. A woman of morals, she fought Adama's militaristic tendencies at every turn, and in some extreme circumstances showcased her own.
After she began taking the anti-cancer drug "Chamalla Extract," she started to have pre-cognitive dreams, that to some, including herself, proved her to be a leader that was prophesized about for 2,000 years. And after she recovered from her cancer, she faced the death of her assistant Billy, and a tough re-election bid against Vice President Gaius Baltar. She hopes that the religious, who believe that she is the one that will lead them to Earth, will keep her in office. |
