Kara is promoted from Lieutenant to Captain in this episode.
It's revealed that the Cylons are too far away from their homeworld, and have thus employed a Resurrection Ship in the fleet following the remaining Colonials that can net the consciousness of any Cylon killed so it can be downloaded into a new body.
