(Source 1) and others a reporting the same news. Its all ending next year?
The only good side to this is that they aren't making the same mistake as they did with SG-1, and telling them its ending half season with the episodes written and being produced.. This way they can end the series on a high note. I hope.
BRING BACK SG-1 DAMNIT |

Yes it is. Next season is supposed to wrap up all the loose ends though. There's also supposed to be 2 made for TV movies, the first of which is supposed to air in September.
At least they'll end it. Not like Jericho. |

"Cancelled" implies an interference by suits; this was a conscious decision made by the producers to end the series on their own terms. Big difference.
I'm split. On one hand, this means that the show won't run the risk of getting its plug pulled before the story can finish. On the other hand, I just wish there would be a 5th season, if for no other reason that 4 is such an even number. I hate it. But I hear that they're making the episodes more, well, episodic, which worries me. But this comment was made before the announcement, so hopefully, they've changed their tune, because even though Battlestar Galactica is superior even at its worst, I'd still hate to see anything distract from having every necessary plot thread wrapped up. I'm sure even in the 20-plus episodes devoted to concluding the story, a few minor plot threads will be left in the dust (like who exactly was Number Six talking to off-camera in the miniseries? I don't even think Moore and Eick know). Maybe they'll change their minds on this, but I doubt it.
All that being said, I can't wait to see how it ends. Very rarely do we get to see a show end itself. Even rarer is when we know well ahead of time.

I've only heard of one movie. I think you're confusing the fact that the movie will make up as two episodes. |

Well then I expect season 4 to be awesome b/c I know they will end it with a bang. The original plan was something like a 5 season arc and I know Moore doesn't want to drag the series if they don't have any more arcs to go with. They are pretty near Earth right now and I can't think of what more stories I can write after season 4. Season 4 would probably be revealing the final 5's plan and revealing the final Cylon. After that, I don't see what more you could do besides some stand along stories. And they pretty much got 2 maps to Earth, certainly no need for any more marker to Earth. Season 3 wasn't as strong as the first 2, but it's still good TV. Let's end it strong and with a bang!
And BTW, I also agree "cancelled" is not the right word. |

Morning Star, could you please remind me what you meant by "who exactly was Number Six talking to off-camera in the miniseries?" I don't remember that.
I'm glad they're going to end it, because it would really suck if the show got bad and everuthing was too stretched and they would have to make up stupid stories. Four seasons is enough to tell a great story, and that's what they've done. |
